Thanks! Will try it out for sure. It's true that lounge requires a certain spark not to become boring. I think that's the key to the genre: Find the mood, get into it - and add a twist/spark. Right now I'm revisiting the second and last record of Dust; Hard Attack. Every time, this makes me want to ...

Thomas OK and Paolo have also tried the Powerline. Here are their verdicts: http://www.lejonklou.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=116&start=67 I'm not quite sure if I've tried the Music Line power strip. A couple of years ago I borrowed a lot of strips, among them a black plastic power strip from a Naim en...

That the live phase is marked is just for convenience.

As I've selected the ones with the right direction and marked them with a logo, I thought I'd might as well mark the phase in both ends as well.

European power strip

Power strips can make a difference to the performance of a HiFi system. Their impact isn't exactly big, but in a great sounding system it's easy to hear the difference. Power strips make less of a difference than power cords - the general rule appears to be that the closer you get to the HiFi units,...

September 2010 became a new all time high in visits to our forum!

The average was 499 individual visits/day.
Peak day was September the 16th with 565, but it's interesting to note that the daily variations are quite small.

Thank you everyone for contributing to our high quality forum!

If anyone else does, I hope they will chime in.

The most similar recreation would be the one with the lowest amount of distortion, yes. But will it sound better than the one with slightly more distortion? Perhaps not. The same applies to analogue amplifiers. Is one with 0.001% distortion better than one with 0.002%? If the distortion is of the ex...

You can measure the jitter of a digital stream, sure. No need to compare it to the bits in the original file, as jitter is timing errors. So, all the bits will arrive intact, but with slight variations in the timing of the clock. These variations can be either random (as in noise), periodical or dep...

Johannes, I think you're right. A good solution would be to have a five way all-adjustable active filter, in which you could set roll on, roll off, level and bass shelving (lower bass eq) entirely as you please. Or at least within certain ranges, to make it fit everything from two way to five way sp...

I've certainly heard SL1210's, but never ever with an Ekos arm! Sounds like a very rare combination.

If you care to tell us more about your system, we should probably move this to a new thread in 'Me and My System'.

Some very good advice there from Charlie! Regarding Katan, I replaced the internal wiring with K400. The soldering work definitely influenced the result, this became evident when I later resoldered them with a slightly different temperature (that experiments had shown to be optimal). There's also so...

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad to hear you like the volume indicator. I won't personally comment on the absolute performance of Kikkin versus any other company's product, it's better to leave that to others. To be able to try it in your own system is one reason why you have 30 days to return i...

Hi psmith! I'm sorry to hear the Kikkin didn't match your expectations. A full refund is of course available if you want to return it. Regarding burn in, I find that with most electronics, it can "soften the rough edges" of the performance slightly. Leaving it switched on without signal is usually e...

Hi jlw2000! I think the Adikt is great and never harsh. There are three things you can do: 1. Compare your stylus with another one. 2. Have your stylus examined with a microscope and perhaps evaluated by ear. 3. Find someone who can mount your Adikt perfectly. "Per the lugs" is not correct! This has...

Autoadaptive load? Unless they explain that in detail, I wouldn't believe a word of it. And then why would there be a 48k7 resistor there in the first place? I repeat: If you're using an MC, 47k (47000) is far too high. That's MM territory, don't even bother with anything above 470 Ohms for a Linn M...

I think that depends on where you live Fredrik True. But is there any place where they're zero? There also solar activity, which occasionally can have massive effects on us earthlings. The standard resistive load for MM carts is 47kohms. For MC carts, there's less of a standard, but it's usually a few hundred ohms. Different phono preamps use different resistive and capacitive loads for MC's, even Linns own models have varied quite a lot even though they've used the same carts for...

A similar topic recently appeared on the Swedish "Tune Method forum" Melodik.se. A lot of people attribute the great sound at night to mains quality. I drive them passive with a 2-channel power amp. And I find that singlewiring them to the treble input with a split K400 sounds best. No diagonal connection as Linn suggest.

At this moment I use a 2100/D, playing the Swedish artist Di Leva.
