Re: Kikkin into Mdsm/3

On a side note, Kikkin is reverse phase like the old Kairn - in case you didn't know or had forgotten. True. But when swapping red and black connectors on the back of the speakers, please do compare which absolute phase sounds best. Because even if there ought to be a right and wrong on this issue,...

Cool!

Your Sagatun stereo was the one in the clips. The first one to be upgraded to 1.7.

The feet are the same as before, only changed to new ones. It’s worth replacing them every five years or so.

Re: Pete's System

Each listening session has been a very active experience. This isn't the same as the common 'upgrade experience' of playing familiar music to hear how much better it sounds, this seems to be a new way of experiencing music that used to be familiar but now is something different. Thank you Pete for ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Since 666F to 668F takes you from 352.2C to 353.3C you have three F temperatures in the range of two C so it wouldn't seem to work if they were rounding to the nearest temperature form some internal reference. Plus if it is just a readout you'd think it would be easy to change. So I'm betting that ...

Re: Which is the optimal length of speaker wires?

OK, so the ferrule article number is 270168? And then the square ferrule is fitted into the round hole of the copper banana and screwed in place? That step seems a little imperfect. What if one could combine the copper ferrule with the banana connector into one piece? Do you think that could be poss...

Re: Tune Method for aktiv Kabers

My experience with Linn’s plug in aktiv cards is that the level of the amps always end up on default setting (is that position 4? Don’t remember). Adjusting them up or down is always worse, regardless of whether the speakers are optimally positioned or very far from optimal. The reason behind the de...

Re: Which is the optimal length of speaker wires?

Very interesting Sopper! I had these two copper models in my drawer. Top one is “Liton USA” and from the shiny and non-oxidised finish (after years in that drawer) I kind of suspect it isn’t pure copper. Bottom one is Viborg Audio and they look exactly like the ones you’re using, apart from yours ha...

Re: Recommended network components

The main Netgear switch (attached with the main router) also, through an ...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

Interesting discussion! Can I just point out one detail that seems to be missing (likely by mistake, as I’m sure you all know this): Active crossovers are placed before the power amplifiers, while passive crossovers are placed after the power amplifiers. This makes their respective negative impact o...

Yes, the power amps sound better when hard wired.

In units that consume less power, like Sagatun and Källa, it makes no difference. So their power supplies are auto range.

Re: A Newbie looking for suggestions

If you travel to Europe, ljknewbie, there are plenty of retailers from which you can order a Superkikkin. Sagatun might be difficult to find in Europe, but it's still available in the US. Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

It’s the same for expensive units as for moderately priced ones. Intra-precision is much better than the datasheet suggests. Between units it differs, so you need to find where the peaks are on your specific station and pen. And you can’t change any parts without redoing those tests.
