Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Hi Pete,
no washers is a no-go, but the other two sound so different, that it's hard to say.

Late to the party, but I spontaneously wanted to listen longer to the brass version. Interesting finding! Linn's use of brass threads in the Ekstatik is no coincidence then.

So, maybe for the cables entering and exiting the Akurate DSM then?
This is what the straight sheepskin looks like, I have samples 25 x 25 cm, about 5 cm high.

Re: Pete's System

Then there's the question of curly or straight sheepskin, of course. I think I could also arrange deer skin and wolf skin for testing, maybe even reindeer ;-) I have small samples of straight sheepskin in the shop, I think I'll try one of those for the LP12 cables.

I would recommend, that you save up for a Lingo 4, maybe a used one. Now that's a step up!

I'm going against the grain here: Glen sings much better with the 109's. That said, I do enjoy the Kans too.

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?

If you are using the Fischer plugs, buy an extra packet, because using them is a bit fiddly. We managed to destroy the threading on one or two, but once fitted, it's extremely stable. And you can of course adjust the distance of the rack to the wall, I think for mine it's around 6 mm.

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?

Yeah, mine was sagging too. I had to correct it with the spikes for the shelf. At least one of them was at the maximum. The Audio Tech is way more solid and sounds better.

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?

Is this the Quadraspire you're referring to? https://quadraspire.co.uk/wall-brackets/ That's the current one, yes. I had the previous model and traded that for an Audio Tech in July and it's much better. So can warmly recommend Audio Tech, they do show up used now and then. I only paid € 100,- for ...

You're welcome :-) Please try also his early jazz recordings, they're brilliant. As are the late 60's works. Very interesting (and good) is also his collaborations with Sly & Robbie on "Aux Armes Et Cætera" and " Mauvaises Nouvelles Des Étoiles".

In high-end car audio applications this very common, sometimes with very good results.

Re: What causes high capacity in MM?

What effect does the high capacity have on the sound? If the capacitance is 300-400 pF too high, it will produce a sizeable bump in the frequency response around 7-10 kHz and thereafter the frequency response drops rapidly. If your cartridge has a high inductance (around 1000 mH), this behaviour wi...

Hi and welcome to the forum, 1. I'm convinced the Entity will easily be more musical than the Rega Fono. 2. I don't see any reason, why the AR wouldn't work well with Entity and Källa. In fact, I'm sure you'll be surprised by how good it sounds with those components connected. 3. If you cannot find ...

No, the Nait 50 has a 100 pF phono input.

Yes, for most cartridges this is too high, since in addition to that you have to add the capacity of the phono cable and tonearm cable.

I prefer 353, it has a natural groove. In comparison 352 seems slightly disjointed, which kept me wanting to return to 353.
