Thanks for the comment, Fredrik. I fully agree with Effraim roots comments about the usefulness of this technique. Even with 33 plus years setting up LP12s there is no way I can feel the kind of fine differences in tightness that have proven themselves to be musically important. Your story of major ...

The cable that plugs into the tonearm (L, R and Ground) should be relatively short. Linn standard length is 1.1 meter and 1.7 meter is available. Remember this includes the roughly 12" inside the LP12. It would not be a good idea to go longer than this. You are dealing with a quite small signal and ...

You've gotten several good answers here. There is no question proper setup is invaluable in getting a system to be as musical as it can be. No amount of shuffling boxes can make up for a questionable setup. And you do have a questionable setup. Let me give you a simple illustration. A few years back...

This post was written up in response to somebody on the Linn forum trying to decide between a Linn Basik/Axis or a newer turntable. The Rega tables were recommended as well as some others and the Technics 1200 also was mentioned. As some have even touted the 1200 as being better than a LP12 (joining...

But you did find a better usage for Isobarik than I did! Very nice. ;-)

OK! We're talking Skottish here so it won't be a party it will be more Akito a Keilidh! It will certainly feature a Kaber toss as part of the games (the participants will have to be sure they aren't Trampolin on anybody) and there will be a Kairn erected in honor of the karkasses of Sondek CD12s, Ik...

While I haven't done the direct A/B of a 2200/D vs. an original KCT I have to agree that ML really hit the nail on the head. I am not thrilled with the 242 mk1 and especially not with I consider the real mk1. Despite the official Linn product history, I maintain that there have been three versions o...

Just decided to do a tune comparison of a number of headphones as the perfect opportunity came up. Also as I hadn't done any serious listening to the Grado headphones since they came out with the 'i" series. What got this all started was that Debbie wanted some headphones as she has taken to listeni...

Anyone invited? It's fancy dress. There will be some free nibbles (on rotating platters) Trampoline and silly putty for the kids. Location unconfirmed, but rumoured to be a big hall in Asgard. Seriously, anyone heard anything about new upgrade/s to commemorate? Always needling people for informatio...

I thought it might be a good idea to bring some perspective into this whole "power" question. When I first got into Hi-Fi in the early 70s I read everything I could get my hands on about Hi-Fi. Sounds great, Fredrik! And it is good to see the photo of it. It is a bit reminiscent of the earlier Exposure gear but that's no problem. Will there be a big LEJONKLOU logo centered between the two LEDs? Interesting story on the Infinity speakers. Many of their models had a reputation as being diffi...

I'd definitely recommend trying a piece of MDF. If you still have the AudioTech around just use that shelf - it is the same as the one used on the Archidea and should work well on the Apollo. If you don't have it just have a piece of MDF that is about 3/8" thick cut to the same dimensions as the LP1...

Did the Apollo you tested have a shelf of glass of some type of wood composite (MDF, particle board)? I have not been fond of the glass shelf versions. I seriously doubt you would find a Quadraspire Wall shelf better than the Apollo if it has the wood composite shelf. You are making me think I shoul...

If you look closely you will see that the upper RCA has slots in the shield (outer ring) whereas the lower one is solid. Seeing them in person it is quite obvious. This is one of those cases where the one I thought logically would be better (the newer, solid one) was actually worse musically. I def...

If I put my ear very close to the tweeters in my ATCs I can also hear a slight hiss from the KK. I cannot hear it from my normal listening position and it doesn't change with volume level. As I have had it with three different KKs I would certainly say it is normal.

I have to say that really is a pretty bad soldering job and I have never seen anything come out of the factory looking like that.
