Exaktly, and just be happy that the noice floor is low and that there are less phase issues. All in the white paper. What else could possibly be needed..

Re: DS firmware - what is the lastest on the most musical one?

Well whatever the reason I understand that they do not comment. A comment such as: We do not know does not build confidence among many customer groups. Neither does: We do make minor changes but all for the best. (Big difference compared to the times when tone controls were banned and keeping the 1s...

Re: DS firmware - what is the lastest on the most musical one?

No proof or even sufficient empirical tests but I am leaning towards that perhaps they are somehow tweaking the software to counteract the mixing of today's releases that I feel often are rather boring. Especially when comparing 80's or earlier hard rock on CD with current releases in the same genre...

Ok, I see. I was thinking if/when adding files via usb-disk or similar. Regarding getting rid of keyboard etc. I have not managed to find the usual bios setting where you enter halt on no errors in the Asus fancy bios. Anybody who knows how to get the NAS to ignore whether keyboard, mouse etc is con...

LSNAS owners! It´s time for letting Microsoft go! I have been running Debian Linux for a couple of weeks now and think it works just fine. Asset runs perfect and you are able to reach asset through a web browser for configuration and rescans, so no need for keyboard, mouse and screen on the NAS. In...

I would say that the main parts is the MB. If you can't get a new one, try to get a used one from eBay or any other similar source.
Thanks Linnofil, clear enough.

I realize that this question is a difficult one but still, any input from those who have compared components would be most welcome since some of the parts in the LSNAS are no longer in production or at least difficult to find (mainly thinking about the motherboard). It would be good to get an indica...

Regarding installation of the NAS, I am not very experienced with LANs and would appreciate some advice: As I have my only Internet access/router rather far away from the stereo (in another room), cable connection between the router and the NAS would be quit ugly. So I would like to avoid it if at a...

Thanks! I have just ordered the parts so will take some time to get it up and running. I will think about Linux. An issue is that I have very limited experience with it, but figured a NAS would perhaps be a good learning project. If anyone has tested already (or is interested to do so), it would be ...

Uninstalled all programs including feature windows: there was a further improvement. What is "feature windows"? Where there any special SW that did a bigger difference than the others"? I ask because I have a feeling that Linn Konfig (with MS .net) didn't do my NAS any god. The NAS got worse the sa...

Thank you! Very interesting info that gives me a much better understanding. I'd drawn the conclusion that passive multiamping was not better but never really figured out "how" more is not better in this case. But your explanation makes sense. (Sounds easy enough to try whether that multiamp sound is...

I think single amping and single wiring passive 109's sounds best. I am interested in the (lack of) benefits of multi amping and seem to hear different views. Is multi amping speaker and/or amplifier dependent? E.g. is single amping and single wiring best for 109 also with, identical, older amplifi...
