Re: Cables

Thanks, but I doubt there is any point. I just got the seller to accept return. It's just so very strange. Supra claim to solder and test them by hand. So how could two be non-functional? And yet they are. Tried the DAC on two PC (one running Linux, one Windows) + the Tinker Board. And the GPS on bo...

Re: Cables

USB cable to DAC: Supra USB A - USB Mini-B, 1 m USB cable Thats this one , right? That's the only Supra cable I can find that fits the description. I have now tried two of them between the Tinker Board and the Gigaport. (And, to test, between my PC and an old GPS I had lying around - not too many t...

Re: Asus Tinker Board

You've found Snakeoil OS better than VolumIO? It's a much better sounding piece of software with more options and the ability to support an audio server as well as a dedicated player. Hmm.. checking the Snakeoil OS site, I can find no explicit mention of Tinker Board support, only Raspberry Pi. But...

Re: Headphone amp?

I recommended the G109 with easy closed headphones and agree: a Grado with the G109 is not a good match. Hmm.. I don't seem to have written what headphones I used, but you are correct, it was pair of Grados - SR325e. I did test it with a pair of AKG K550 too, which are closed and easily driven. My ...

Re: Headphone amp?

Bump! I'm completely ready for a Lejonklou headphone amp! :) [I hope this isn't too OT, but it relates directly to other equipment mentioned in this thread.] I've just spent a few days listening through a Violectric HPA V100 headphone amp, which according to manufacturer is essentially identical to ...

Re: Asus Tinker Board

I'll post more clips after my house move. Hopefully both the Hakai and Tinker Board S clips will be based on Snakeoil OS. You've found Snakeoil OS better than VolumIO? It's pretty cool that as long as you buy a few memory cards, you can switch between them to compare. :) So far I'm too happy to sta...

Re: Asus Tinker Board

Can you provide clips? Well.. I probably can, but I don't think mobile clips by themselves say much. I don't think it makes much sense unless I can do a comparison, and I'm not sure of what, as I don't have an HAKAI. Comparing with my own random PC isn't all that interesting, is it? I don't have an...

This is the TInker Board S. Since there was no known comparisons available, I went with the version that seemed more practical. Though currently, I'm running it off the SD-card, not the on-board eMMC.

Re: Asus Tinker Board

I've been curious about HAKAI for quite a while now. Not because I'm unsatisfied with my KDSM, but mostly curious about how good a DYI project like this could actually be. Also, since I spend quite a bit of time in my home office, I would like something better than my computer for music. But HAKAI b...

It should, yes. The same would be true with cifs, of course. Your media player (Volumio) sees the media files as local files (which just happen to be in a network mounted folder).

Re: Urika II

I'm using an Urika II. It was a worthwhile upgrade from Urika I, I felt. The II is a bit "more of everything". It's been a while since the update, but as I remember it, everything felt more real; more body and definitively more tuneful. I do have a few before/after clips I could upload, but they are...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I just thought of something. It is important for video and audio to be in sync. In case the player cannot keep a steady video pace it is possible that it reclocks the audio to compensate. How this is implemented and when it would happen is specific to the specific player, I guess. Anyway, it could p...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

One thing I couldn’t have foreseen is that file size was totally unrelated to musical quality. The iPhoto to Dropbox files were actually the largest at 607 and 608MB, the direct to Dropbox files are 276MB and the Telegram files transferred at 42.2 and 42.1MB! (I would normally assume that is becaus...

It appears I get "calculation failed" no matter what I do. I even tested setting up a new room. Accepted everything as default, room dimensions, placement, materials, everything.

Calculation failed. Instantly.

Well.. the new SO is not working too well here. In fact, not at all. It claims I need to "use Konfig to add speakers to an Exakt system".. but I don't have an Exakt system. And the speakers are of course added in Konfig. So that's me stuck. I’m getting the same thing. I have Urika II so possibly th...

There is no lack of solutions online for ultrasonic vinyl cleaning, at various DYI levels. The one I felt was the most promising was the solution from Vinyl Stack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ukvU3I_AWI. I use their spinner + a regular ultrasonic bath. Avoiding exotic liquids was one of the rea...
