Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

I have the feeling that Linn have moved away from open, transparent and accessible engineering approach (which I thought is the philosophy of Linn) to a more superficial and closed one. Not good. I still have the hope that it will be possible to work with the new filters in Konfig some day. Is it j...

What IF and that is really the biggest of IFs but I would really like to see it happen: What IF Linn have finally realized that the simplification by marketing that apart from the source not being in the speaker but also that nothing before the DS can have any impact whatsoever AND that there is no ...

Re: Linn forum down?

Perhaps it is getting more and more difficult to separate Majik from Akurate in terms of price and performance with each new ”generation” of improvements and this will mean a phase out of Majik and Akurate (selecting with or without Katalyst). And they may have found that they make most profit by se...

Re: Linn forum down?

I found the Linn forum very useful when I started streaming back in 2010 because I had no idea what to do. But now the system works well and I find myself checking out the forum less and less often. In fact, my main source of Linn news is their Facebook page - and on top of that the forum recently ...

Re: Linn forum down?

How big is this Dutch hi-fi show anyway? If the new product(s) is really so fantastic I assume it is one of the biggest in Europe? Otherwise, it feels like Linn had to go for quick return on investment (financial pressure?) not waiting for a BIG event. OR, perhaps Linn just picks a ”smaller” one not...

OK. I fully understand. And either way, the clips are great! (Was just curious about eg how many that easily picks which is which etc.)

Re: HAKAI playground

David, great that you share these recordings on the forum! Thank you!! So I feel a bit impolite to even ask this, but would it be possible to have the LP12 tonearm playing also on the Hakai clips to make it more of of a ”secret”, at least for a while? (Of course one could close the eyes, but very ha...

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

Yes, but I'm not fully confident in defining it. As have been mentioned, the motherboard sets the standard and might be number one. Perhaps the SSD is number two and power supply is number three. DAC number four? RAM and cabling number five. I am guessing now! To what extent do you think the rating...

Hej Fredrik! Posting here is perfectly fine. Just what I was wondering. Thanks! Will check the text on the cables tonight. Their length is more like just over 1,8m (cord length between the plugs). (Were power cords also 1,2m?)

Two UK TONGYAN power cords

I bought two used Linn LK units that each came with a fused UK TONGYAN power cord.
As I live in Sweden, these will not be used.
Any interest in them?

Re: Tukans vs. 242 mkII..??

For the Tukans (without knowing its width and depth) I would check out old Kan II stands.

BTW I am not sure the Tukan is necessarily more musical than Kan I or II given that they are both fed top source (LP12), pre- and power amp. Kans are indeed hard to beat.

Re: asking for upgrade advice

Of course.. But then spending money on the most musical upgrade upstreams are very often argued but rarely with a fully open minded attitute. Sometimes it is a rule, other times practial considerations or limited funds are ok arguments. I am not disagreeing in this particular thread, just reacting o...

Re: asking for upgrade advice

In that case you should never have bought the SM and TM in the first place but settled with a Linn Intek or similar to be able to afford potential future KDS upgrades that are becoming increasingly silly expensive. With limited funds.

Those of you with 3677s and 4645C:
- What room dimensions and wall material have you got?
- What's the distance between the speakers and where did you place the sub(s)?

Re: JBL 3677

That would certainly make (keep) things simple. On the other hand doesn't Linn's Exakt indata include a height measurent. Presumably for resonance reasons. But a quick search on the internet also gave that the human brain (people in a choir at least) needs a certain delay of sound to process the inf...

Regarding height but appearing off topic.. I just got back from Barcelona where I re-visited Sagrada Familia - highly recommended btw as much has been done inside compared to just a few years back. Anyway, Gaudí, the architect, was a true perfectionist working in an engineering way and realized he n...

Re: JBL 3677

I talked to a movie sound system installer about the 3677 and he was surprised to hear that people used it for hifi, considering the absence of low bass. And particularly so when hearing it was not installed in its typical manner (and thereby how it was designed?), which he said for cinema use is in...
