Re: Linn Launch Event

Same area is likely to enable to combine (acc to wallet size) both with Selekt or Klimax exakt boxes and quite possibly coming dito amps. Without making it look terrible in the rack.

Re: Linn Launch Event

£30000 for Klimax DSM is quite a step up in price. I wonder how many they expect to sell. I guess we will see elements of the flagship line make it into the lower cost lines over time. How long before Organik makes it all the way to the series 3? Is clear that Linn have not previously managed to ap...

Thanks! Krystal clear now!

Re: Karousel

Hi,
Clear that it is not limited to LP12 only. But you are saying that it is not limited to upgrades only so it is also possible to buy eg an amplifier, speaker or cables?

Re: Karousel

Well that is not how it is expressed by one of the Swedish retailers (wrong or right). They clearly write that the qualifying orders need to be upgrades (which of course can be a matter of definition but a deck sounds more like a product than an upgrade.)

Isn’t the promotion limited to upgrades (of LP12 or other Linn products) for a certain amount to get a ”free” Karousel?

Re: Discussion about tune and more continued.....

Not to mention Space Optimisation, practical position, bass shelves etc etc. While they may still use tunedem to some extent, it is for sure not their top priority any longer. That Linn is gone. I cannot believe that ”Old Linn” would ever have launched at least the first versions of digital volume c...

Not my experience. Last month I have received replies the same day, next day and max after three days. My questions were all about existing ”traditional” products though. Could it be that there is a lot of ”communication coordination bureacracy” regarding newer products and potential upgrades that t...

Re: Linn Ninka with one Katan woofer??

OK Thanks Sunbeam and Thomas. Sounds like it likely is as bad of a thought as I suspected and not worth to spend any time on. (No real need for yet another pair of speakers but time will tell if I find a pair of really cheap Ninka drivers before I find somebody interested in these maple Ninka cabine...

Linn Ninka with one Katan woofer??

A crazy (and quite possibly even stupid) thought perhaps: :) But.. I bought a pair of broken Ninkas for spare tweeters alone, where two woofers are dead. So they are not in use. I also have an old Trikan which I believe have Katan 125 mm woofers. As I have old stereo aktiv cards, would it even be po...

Re: Majik 109 Modification

His observation "some may prefer the more vivid presentation from the cheaper brother" could explain why Linn chose the cheaper Woofer for their "small" Majik System. Still unsure wether it's a good idea to change the well-balanced configuration of the 109-as-is... Intersting report about the drive...

Re: Musical Unpleasantness

Please elaborate on the Blackmore Yngwie example. Implying Yngwie is not focused on playing music.. Well admittedly Blackmore has more emphasis on the ”emotional” part (but he would probably not even be able to manage many of the Yngwie parts - but if he could, I think the room for ”music” (whatever...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Have you tried aktiv Katans? I haven’t owned them myself but have heard others’ aktiv Katans and most people agree that Katans (and Ninka) are among the speakers that benefit the most by going aktiv. And they do boogie although do not have the most ”refined” signature. But perhaps boogie is subjecti...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

I agree fully with ML; I guess that this has been really neglected by many dealers the last years and possibly even deliberately so; I mean why tune something into perfection with SO deactivated if your intention is to demo that SO is great with speakers ”anywhere”? But then as ML says, the comparis...

Perhaps not but the key factor is that if you optimize your system based on clear sound, a 3D soundstage etc. you will over time not end up with the most musical system (tune-dem-wise).

Torque with ”calibrated” torque wrenches gives (more than) a good reference. But the final setting should be tuned by ear. That’s what everybody said about Lightroom too but when upgrades got fewer or less significant, they went ahead anyway. I guess that could be solved in the software that an ok from ”the cloud” is needed for the SO to be applied. Perhaps a basic version for free and an advanced (with extra functionality/features) which requires a subscription. I think it may be a bit naive to except software functions to be for free o...
