Leave the resistors and coils as they are. OK, so no changes to the resistors at all? I got the impression that I almost certain got an improvement from raising the tweeter level. Why not in this case? The question is how much those bipolar caps change with time... ... If you can de-solder all of t...

Linnofil, interesting to hear about the Majik Kontrol. I've also been using this instead of dedicated headphone amp. Perhaps I should go for a cheaper pair of headphones and buy a low cost headphone amp as well (maybe 2nd hand)? I think I should point out that the Majik Kontrol isn't bad at all. In...

I have tried the 650's myself at home and I didn't like them at all. Very nice sound, but boring music. These were brand new and they may improve a lot with som burn in. I used the built in headphone amp on my Majik k. But the AKG k24P discussed here: http://www.lejonklou.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3...

I raised the tweeter level in the passive filter by about 0.4 dB with one extra parallel resistor (compared several values) and I think it was worth the effort. capacitors in the crossover, could they be getting old and need replacement? I think it depends on what filter model it is you have in the...

(Sorry for the OT Linnofil.) No need to apologize, it's fun to see some action in this thread! (To bad there is no action on the actual speakers. ;) I will try and order some tweeters soon. I have noticed that the "new" tweeters are not flat on the mounting surface. In the newer speakers the sealin...

If that tweeter is an original and in good shape, it certainly has value as they are difficult to find. Yepp, original and practically brand new! Will be removed gently. Any buyers out there? Send me a pm! :D capacitors in the crossover, could they be getting old and need replacement? I think it de...

Just grab the fabric in the middle on each side and slowly pull towards you. Gradually increase the force until the grille pops off from the baffle. The trick is not to be in a hurry, but give the glue/silicon time to break and loose its grip. I will report on the status of the grille after taking ...

You have an incredibly cool source first system, Azazello... Agree! I remember replacing my pair of Index Plus with Helix 1. At the time, I thought they were a lot better. http://www.blocket.se/vi/14041193.htm?ca=15_s In your price range? The Index's will be ideal for a Knekt zone later on if you d...
Maybe you already know this, but it was news for me. I saw some technical info on Topica. It was about the DAC's in the Klimax DS. I wonder if I will ever be able to compare the difference in performance that application/implementation and ultimately audio/music knowledge results in for these two un...

Re: Great interview!
Yes, I can confirm that Ivor answer personal mails. I once contacted Ivor when I couldn't resolve a problem with Linns servicedepartment. Me and my dealer tried everything and got a not so nice response from service. We where basically idiots for not accepting a "fault free" product and they could ...

Thanks for all your inside information and tips. It looks like I have to go for the newer tweeters. I talked to an owner of Kan II's a couple of days ago at my dealers "Lejonklou musical evening". He had compared his renovated Kan II's (new tweeters, renovated woofers) with Unik (standing on Kan sta...

Old Linn Kan I, can they be improved?
I have just bought a pair of late Linn Kan I's. Nostalgia! One of the treble units is a bit old. The other speaker has a new treble unit and that speaker now sound different/better. The question is, should I replace the old remaining treble unit, and get a fresh sounding pair of Kan I's? Is there an...

What is the matter with the roomamps? I don't know exactly. But there is an IC that has blown up and some wires on the PCB that has been "erased by current". They are just dead. Unfortunately I bought them (On eBay, not cheap enough! ) this way and I don't know how they got damaged. Since...

Service and repair cost for Linn products?
Does anyone know what the exact policy is concerning service and repair cost for Linn products? Some say there is a fixed service charge for most products and another fixed service charge for the more expensive products such as the Klimax/Artikulate/Akurate range. Right? I thought so, until I tried ...

I have experimented with this in the past and I think I have an explanation to why different people can come to different conclusions. 1. The first time I tried this was in my own system (-96?)on a Kairn (No SMPS) with active Keilidhs (2xLK100) I first had daisychained and then tried parallel with g...

Exactly Fredrik! You need to be very careful with words! But when did you see a journalist who was just that? Hm, you sound a bit pessimistic, Linnofil. I feel quite positive. First of all, it's hard to say what this article really means. That people are loosing jobs at Linn is of course sad for the employees, but the reorganisation is likely a good move for the company and in the end for both employees an...
