Re: General Discussion about Källa
Thanks for sharing. The result: Källa into an analogue preamp seems to be the way to go, no Exakt please :-) Matt For Kalla as the source, yes. Or the full alternative. It would be interesting to compare the full end to end alternatives (using the same speakers), but that's a logistical challenge!

That slogan was marketing nonsense, as we all know, and is irrelevant to any considered discussion about Exakt.

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Listening to Kalla in a couple of different systems. First, thanks to John at Kantata Audio (my "usual" Lejonklou dealer) for allowing his Kalla to go on a UK tour before it lands in Lisburn at some point, eventually. Secondly thanks to David Neel for his hospitality and the chance to listen to Kall...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Most people in "audiophile circles" do not regard Spotify as high quality in comparison to other streaming services and most probably will not appreciate a streamer which is optimized for the replay of Spotify. And people who typically listen to Spotify with their smartphones can not afford or do n...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
May we have this noted in the records for future reference please! Even if Kalla is supremely musical (which seems to be the case reported here) and more musical than any other digital player, that is an improvement, not a breakthrough. A breakthrough would be the case if it was an absolute to say ...

20211008_105317.jpg Is the change to grey lettering just for Kalla, or a change of direction for all new builds please Fredrik? All new products/builds will have the grey logo. Thanks Fredrik. Re: General Discussion about Källa
Without going too much off-topic, but connecting a Källa to the analogue input of an Exakt system is going to be inferior and more expensive than abandoning Exakt. Exakt primarily makes sense with an Exakt source, otherwise I would strongly advice against it. Its not a given at all. There are still...

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Am I considering buying a Källa? The answer to that can only be a yes! Unfortunately, I can’t just plug a Källa into my system (being an Exakt only system) which means I have to sell everything and start again, but I’m working on a roadmap as we speak! Your Exakt system has an analogue input though.

Re: General Discussion about Källa
Now that the Kalla is getting delivered and the first impressions at this forum shared, a question. The charm of vinyl is its relative imperfection unlike the digital performance, does the Kalla bring back that vinyl like thrill? Or is it killing because of another performance quality? Sorry, but I...

Re: Linn Akubarik Exakt System (Katalyst) - save almost 50%
I’m confused on the warranty. Does the speaker have two warranty’s ? I thought any upgrade increases warranty of the entire product for 5 years. The pair of speakers have a warranty which would be extended at the time of the Katalyst upgrade install. The AEDSM has a separate warranty which won't be...

Re: Tundra Stereo 2.5
The mistake you're making is to confuse the music signal with a flow of power. Source First, or the Hierarchy, doesn't apply to the flow of power in your power supply. It applies to the flow of music from one component to the next, in which case a previous component always has a more fundamental in...

Re: Tundra Stereo 2.5
Hmm. Good point! But, is it really possible to see the flow of power as being separate from the flow of musicality? Without power, there is no musicality. With power, we can have a range of musicality, depending upon the nature of the power. Isn’t musicality our interpretation of the quality of the...

Re: Tundra Stereo 2.5
absolutely beck and while I agree with others and absolutely understand the focus on source first there are things which are not related to musicality and rather to the hifi part of the enjoyment which can be absolutely annoying and also distracting from enjoying the music. And when those issues ar...

Re: Four years in the making
It sounds like no other digital streamer on the market. Does that include the new Linn Organik DSM under comparable conditions? No, I haven't had a chance to listen to Organik in an environment that feels comparable, however I have previously owned and lived with a KDS/1 for quite a long time so I ...

Re: Comparison between Linn Klimax DSM and Linn Klimax Sondek
Prefer the LP12 but not bad for digital :) Picked up my Valhalla/Ittok deck yesterday, having been fitted with refurbished Karma. It was playing through the new Klimax DSM into 350As and sounded great. I'm amazed how much information was coming off an LP12 back in the mid 80s. Never heard 350As sou...

Re: The future of Boazu and passive speakers
My experience is that its not possible to say generically that one is better than the other. For sure, there are differences, but the implementation is everything. There are excellent examples of both, and terrible examples of both. So its best to consider what your priorities are (e.g. space saving...

Hi, I did this upgrade earlier this year, after having come across a second hand pair of Excel woofers. I'm very satisfied. Easily put: It sounds like a much more expensive speaker. (Which it sort of is, I guess...) I'm running them on an Exaktbox-I Thanks to the original poster for the idea! https...
