I am still smiling about the irony of this. :)
I notice that Volumio seems to randomly remove SSH-access. If it does that and you then disable Volumio, there will be no way to access HAKAI after a reboot.

Re: Best sounding LAN cable for DS
Excellent find, tokenbrit, that's quite remarkable! Thank you! markiteight, no problem. I'll explain better now. The BJC cables were better than my older Microconnect. This made me forget to ask BJC about the slight error in length. I prefer to buy from a local shop when possible to reduce shipping ...

They are only available from the US.
Re: Volumio.
For those of you who still have Volumio in your HAKAI. I temporarily killed Volumio just for fun. The only task it performs is playing that "dah-ding" upon reboot, anyway. Both musicality and sound improved a lot! Try it! Login with Putty and volumio@volumio:~$ volumio vstop volumio@volumio:~$ ps au...

Re: Netgear Switch: GS108T v GS108v1 v GS108v4 v ?????
I have not tried a FRIWO power supply as I've read many negative reviews from those whose opinions I agree with. The only people who prefer the FRIWO don't play any vinyl, like "SPACE", and don't have a proper dedicated hi-fi circuit. I've only heard excellent reviews of it on this forum. I just or...

Re: Best sounding LAN cable for DS
I think it's important - I was thinking to buy a 5m Microconnect cable to use between the router and the switch, replacing the unmarked one I use today. In general, should I expect a boost in tunefulness doing so? I suppose I'd have to hunt for "old style good quality microconnect SSTP" rather than ...

Re: Volumio Goes Hardware
That said, it has packed up this afternoon whilst midway installing a plugin! I have emailed to ask how to re-boot it via the micro SD card supplied... Unreliable software. :( Of course, the ADS1 has a DAC from 2010 on board and the Volumio has a very late spec one. Sometimes more modern DACs make ...

Re: Volumio Goes Hardware
The €400 streamer beats the €7000 streamer on the very specific selling point of the expensive one (tunefulness)? It's quite remarkable!
Re: Volumio.
Lego, thanks for your suggestion, however, you forgot that it's impossible to play an album if the app doesn't even see the NAS. :)

Re: HAKAI Build Help?
Attach the tiny adhesive rubber rings which gives a bit more space for the two connectors. Then attach the connectors and then screw the ssd to the metal plate.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
That's pretty cool. I suspect we are using a similar process. Recent months I have played around with home made wood boards and silicone rubber feet for the network equipment. For instance, for the PSU of my NAS. :) Probably your findings are different from mine, especially since it's a CD player wi...

It sounds bouncy and nice. :) What CD player is that? Can you explain the board and feet you have under it?

Re: SPACE Optimisation Measurement for Your Speakers
What is the SPACE Optimisation exactly? An EQ?
Does it improve sound and/or tune?
How does it calculate the room modes?
Edit: oops, just noticed that this is sales, let me know if you want me to delete my post.

Something came up in this thread regarding Apple and Volumio. Just giving my experience here: I use Android Kazoo, and I have a number of issues that no Apple users seem to have.

Re: Paaf system
I placed a pillow on the right wall in the right corner, just to the right of the speaker. That is, not at the previously mentioned point about midway between the speaker and the listening position, but actually just next to the corner. The huge skewing of the stereo image is solved! I can't explain...
Re: Volumio.
I set the fixed IP on the HAKAI- and NAS- side because I didn't find a way to do it on the router. First I cleared app cache, then I removed all data. There is only one subnet to select. Rescan network gives no sign at all that it was pressed. Only one router in my home, although of course there are...
Re: Volumio.
Kazoo lost the NAS again. That didn't take long. It's amazing that such a poorly written app can play music so well. lol
Re: Volumio.
It's maddening at times. I haven't noticed a need for a separate router, I simply use the dhcp of the fiber modem, and the two ethernet ports there, one for a stationary PC and the other for a switch.
Re: Volumio.
Hi Paaf, have you restarted your router & DHCP server, and do you use static IPs? Did you try clearing the Kazoo cache on Android? Thank you. I do use static IP for both the NAS and the HAKAI. I rebooted the NAS and the switch, and I did clear the app cache on the phone, as well as even uninstalled...
