Re: Boring hifi forbidden!

... I think that u252agz was referring to the difference between KDS and Sneaky with that particular amplification. Why would that be especially important? Well, if you read his posts, especially the last one on page 1, he is wondering whether great amps or playback can improve the sound of lesser ...

Re: Boring hifi forbidden!

I hesitate to do so because: 1 The impressions were not based on ABA testing but how the system sounded after the changes forced upon me by the upgrade process. This is subject to more memory and psychological bias than usual 2 I suspect I am not one of the most discerning members on the forum - re...

Re: Boring hifi forbidden!

... Another thing which may be of interest is that ; with Sagatun monos and Tundra mono 2s driving 242s recently, the forced introduction of the sneaky in place of the KDS/1 was to my ears, quite good and definitely more engaging than my old Linn system. More detailed for sure - but in a good way. ...

On the topic of "Watermark" in music files

Check out this rather scary example: http://www.mattmontag.com/music/univers ... -watermark

Who think this is ok? It makes one sad to know that this is going on while we invest both time and money to improve our hifi to be able to hear all there is in the music.

Re: Boring hifi forbidden!

Worthwhile reminder, down to earth. (bordering to be off topic) This thread reminded me of a quite famous speech by David Foster Wallace named "This is Water", also a worthwhile listen, check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CrOL-ydFMI It's a good speech, like a good album side or so. I don't know ...

Re: Boring hifi forbidden!

So do not get carried away by appearance, sound and price alone! Do not let your brain make the decision alone. Look at your feet. What is your head doing? Are you carried away by the music to another place and time? Have fun and happy listening! :-) I think this is just what the major part on this...

... Re: Preamps with DSs

Does the success of the KDS/2 upgrade confirm that Exakt was the superior source at the time of its release? After all, Exakt was the first to include improved clocking architecture. Surely the improved timing trumps anything the DVC might spoil later on - that's source first theory isn't it? imho ...

Re: Matching Lejonklou with other audio brands?

Shouldn't be a problem to mix Lejonklou with other brands, as long as they are good enough. It is ofcurse a matter of preference, but if you ask me that narrows the selection of suitable playmates quite drastically. On the source side there are few really good competition (considering both price and...

A good system correctly installed sounds amazing wherever you are in the room or even outside the room from where the hifi is. Back to the thread topic. "Just listen" should really be used more often, by all and possibly by the designers of hifi most of all. From what I understand the minute the des...

Am I alone in this? I have never adjusted the balance during my 30+ years of listening of music. And if I listen off-center, it is what is is. I care about the music not the stereo perspective. You are not alone in this. The only time I have used the balance is to determine if somethong was wrong o...

I did not mean any other comparison than the one at Tonalget where I have listened to an Akurate Exakt Akudorik system and the at the time somewhat comparable KDS/1+Akurate+242 system and the Akudorik:s was pretty damn close as far as I and some others concluded. No reference was made to the Klimax ...

Re: Re:

Yes. And my point is that although you get an Akurate system there will require a KDS based system to reach a comparable level of performance, which makes it a rather good value despite the cost. Source first: A better source outperforms a worse one, irrespective of the playback. In the Linn DS ran...

I'm confused too, Charlie... If I listen to Somewhere over the Rainbow, I can hear: C C B G A B C. I can hear that on the crappiest of hifi, and I still hear that however many times I repeat it in my mind. If I cannot make out these notes, and the underlying chord structure, then I simply have fail...

Re: Whither Tunedem, 2015

http://youtu.be/DMu9PKWthLE Now this would a real challenge for Mr L's HiFi, however ameliorating it might be! :-) I do agree though, that a hifi-system can distort the sound so that the pitch is perceived as out of tune. I have encountered this phenomenon many times. Although not nearly as experie...
