New Majik DSM and other Majik line changes

Linn have just announced the replacement of the current Majik DSM with a new "super" version. The new version features 11 digital inputs, including 4 HDMI inputs, bringing it in line with the other DSM models. The pricing of the new version in the US will be $4750 and it will start shipping April 16...

Mike has PMed me and I sent him the information. Charlie1 is correct on the starting point for the circuit boards - my finding was extremely close to the .4Nm mark.

Just another quick note before I have to fly to work. I covered this in depth in a post on page 4 of this thread but I thought a brief recap would help. On the subject of continuous power, one of the least efficient current speakers I have had contact with is the ATC SCM7 which is a roughly M109 siz...

It is very interesting to read all these reports and also the translated ones form the other forums. Thanks to all who have commented and those who made the translation links. It certainly sounds like Fredrik has come up with quite a product and I look forward to listening to it once it arrives stat...

OK, time for Session 2. (I bet you thought I’d make you wait for weeks.) ;-) As in the previous tests I cleaned the connectors of the in place cables and used the cable to the Radikal for the comparisons. Still in Mono for the same reason (woofer not back yet). I also used the same music, starting w...

Well here goes! I had promised a few people I would check into the newest Linn power cable to see how it performed as it sounded promising. Of course, nothing is ever as simple as it seems, as this tale will show. As has been mentioned on the forum Linn has started shipping a new power cable from a ...

Just thought I'd mention that I have tried one of the premium Wattgates (the same one used on Nordost Valhalla power cables) and I was not happy with it at all. It was well behind the Schurter which was well behind the molded Volex so I would agree with Fredrik on this.

If your birthday is the 11th of April, Thomas, I will do my very best to make sure a Tundra arrives in time. Do you have a lucky number that you would prefer the serial number to be? Number 1, 8 and 9 are not available. Why 11 of course! Actually I have always liked the number 11 for a couple of re...

What sounds reassuring is that you are happy with the Tundra and it should arrive a few weeks after the 21st of March! Maybe a demo sample in time for my birthday on April 11th?

This is one of those questions that doesn't really have a simple answer. There were several different power supply options over the life of the Isobarik Aktiv crossover but none is a totally simple answer to your problem. As has been mentioned the Dirak is one possibility and I did actually swap one...

Glad to hear you are happy with the Dynamik upgrade - it really does make quite the musical improvement to the Radikal. Also happy to hear you experimented with the torques and found the optimums. It really is true that being off just a little bit can make a quite big musical difference. Fredrik, Pa...

If my understanding is correct your contact only has the information partially right. Your unit will still be covered by Linn's 5 year warranty and I would waste no time getting it in to Linn for repair. HOWEVER, the Linn warranty does not cover items that are considered normal wear items and this i...

It looks likely to be some version of Kimber cable to me. I haven't done direct comparisons but I doubt it would compete effectively with K20 or K400 musically.

Yes, a properly performing LP12, even with a Basik arm, is musically superior to any Rega and certainly than any ProJect. Also now is the wrong time to buy one of the more expensive Rega tables. Rega is redoing much of their line and they have discontinued the P7 and the RB700 arm. I wouldn't be sur...

The Naim streamers have three digital inputs. Personally, I would gladly connect my CD, TV and Bluray into the streamer and use its builtin DAC. As far as I know, the Linn DS do not have any inputs, except the DSMs of course. Naim ND5XS costs 22490kr here, a little more than a Linn Majik DS. Depend...

Just noticed on a new Klimax Kontrol that we received for a customer that it is labeled Klimax Kontrol/2! Double-checked mine with the power switch and found it is labeled that way as well (surprised I missed it). Makes me wonder if they changed anything else or if it is only the power switch?

Tundra needs an input signal 8 dB louder than a Linn power amp to play equally loud. That's 8 steps on a Kikkin or a Linn preamp. I don't remember how large the adjustment range is on an Exotik, maybe someone else does? Looking at the manual, I believe the Exotik +DA has adjustment for -/+ 15 dB, i...

£1,550 for a new Akiva is not going to happen. Why? It sounds like you received a decent life out of your Akiva if it lasted 4 to 5 years. (By the way are those real years or customer years? We often find customers who swear their unit must still be under the manufacturer's 2 year warranty only to ...

I think I would definitely have to rate one of the more musical plinths I have heard as being a bigger improvement than a Trampolin 2. I don't know if I'd quite put them in the Keel or Radikal range but there is definitely more power and control in the bass and more musical information being recover...
