Wanted - Information about Linn's RS232 control protocol

Does anyone have any information about Linn's implementation of the RS232 control protocol between DS players and preamps? I'm particularly keen to understand what changes between different preamps, and thus the need to select your preamp in Konfig. Also, is there anything specific which would preve...

Re: How do you like your second system?

Glad to hear that you like it. Hopefully the DS for exploring new music and background while you're working, combined with your main LP12 system for more serious listening sessions will really give you the best of both worlds.

Stereo Aktiv Card Cable

Does anyone have a spare stereo aktiv card cable?

Similar to one of those in the attached image (don't mind if long or short)

Re: MM/MC phono board for Exotik, MDSi, MDSM, ADSM, AK

Is this a simple "plug and play" option for an Exotik+DA? Is there any config needed in the menus etc.?

This would make my Exotik+DA/Dyn identical (other than the label on the outside of the box) to a late model AK/0, wouldn't it?

Re: How do you like your second system?

One other comment I'd make in terms of physical setup is that since the Sneaky (and Renews) don't even have a display, there's really no need to have them visible, which can help with acceptability for the rest of the family, who only see the speakers.

Re: How do you like your second system?

If you're on Windows, I'd recommend dBPowerAmp for ripping, and personally I prefer ripping to FLAC in order to embed the metadata (and since I can't hear the difference).

Are you using MinimServer?

Re: How do you like your second system?

Hi Charlie. Sounds like it's working quite well as a second system. With the things you've ripped to your local drive, how is that being done: 1 - Ripping software 2 - Rip format (FLAC, WAV etc.) 3 - Server software On the last point: Shame it can’t be connected to the TV. Sounds like you really nee...

Wanted: KK PSU etc. also RoomAmp 2i

I had hoped recently to get hold of a KK with a broken display, but that deal fell through as the owner decided that he did want to repair it and keep it. However, I spotted on eBay the main circuit board from a KK/0, and bid on it on a bit of a whim really. I've now won it, and I figured that I'd t...

Good point Spannko! I listen to BBC 6Music more than any other station, and that's DAB or online only.

KK - Works with no front panel?

I may have an opportunity to get a KK with a damaged front panel, which has no functioning buttons or screen. Obviously, I can send this off to get a repair, but given that all of my kit is out of sight in a rack behind the sofa, controlled by RS232, I'm wondering if there's any need to do so initia...

Re: Exakt

For anyone curious, my current system is Linn Akubarik passive, Lejonklou Tundra mono plus Linn 2250 for the Iso-Bass, Oppo DVD, Transparent PowerBank 8, Linn interconnects and speaker wire, and Wavelength Crimson USB DAC. Out of interest, how do you handle the 8dB gain offset between the Tundra an...

Re: Exakt

My experience was that each step of the process inproveed the musicality of the Exakt 242s I heard, but the biggest step was going from default filter values to the ones the dealer (Ian Ridge in this case) had worked out through a few hours of painstaking tunedem trial and error.

Re: Klimax Renew DS/1

Just wanted to say that this KRDS/1 is now sat in my rack at home and is a great upgrade from the old KRDS/0. It's much more musical as well as being a very subtle upgrade as it looks identical to the old one! Very smooth and easy transaction with Kona too. Good comms, and he even flew over in perso...

Sounds like an interesting visit. By the way, you've said "Sagatun Monos" and "Sagatun" but not mentioned a power amp. Do you mean Sagatuns Monos and Tundra Stereo?

Re: How do you like your second system?

I have to say that I really enjoy my second system (Sneaky, Majik 2100/D, Majik 109s) and probably spend more time listening to music on it than my main system, even though the main system is much, much better. The reason is simply how I use both systems, and the fact that the second system is used ...

I'm with Charlie. I like the author info on the right, as I normally read the text of the discussion first.

Sorry Matthias, I wouldn't want it in line above the comments, as it just interrupts the flow of the discussion there.

Personally, I like the change. No need to "pinch zoom", just double tap the text with your thumb and it goes to full width, so easy with one hand but still lets you see everything if you want to.
