Re: Tundra Mono 3

Please make sure you always reserve enough time for your family. Those moments are the ones you, your wife and your children will never forget. If one pair of Tundras go out 2 or 3 days later might just upset the one who suppose to get those but that will soon be forgotten.

Re: FRIWO 12 v medical grade PSU for Netgear GS108 switch

initially the Friwo was used because one member had some issues with high frequency rubbish the other power supplies have been emitting and he had a use case where he didnt wanted to have that. The Friwo was the quietest one so he used it. If I remember it right he never made statements about a bett...

new JBL 4329p loudspeaker

I was at the High End in Munich this weekend and the one speaker which really impressed me was the new JBL 4329p loudspeaker. As I already said in the events thread this loudspeaker is more of a consumer version of the JBL 708p its priced at the same price and has some things the JBL 708p doesnt hav...

Re: EVENTS

coming back from the High End this weekend in Munich where one of the remarkable events was to meet Matthias from this forum. I heard the new Linn 360 loudspeakers as Exact version with integrated Organic DAC‘s which sell in Germany for 104.130Euro (I am pretty sure Linn would go bankrupt if they wo...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

it seems you use Mission stands with the JBLs? They have the right hight but I found the Lin Kan stands which I recently replaced the Mission stands with a notable improvement. Also your JBLs look like very close to the wall - I had them at about 11cm away from the back wall but after more experimen...

Re: Beck and his black boxes.

I really enjoy the Simon and Garfunkel Song on your system. The challenge with this song is following the different texts of the two voices - the easier that works the more I enjoy it. Its always impressive what you achieve with this CD Player. In the former comparison I couldnt decide for black or ...

Re: More About Powering a System

I have now tried every possible combination of how to power one source, one preamp and two power amps (Källa, Superkikkin, Tundra Mono 3 and Tundra Mono 3) with a six-way standard power strip (Clas Ohlson 36-8904) that has one long brass strip feeding every socket for both live, neutral and ground....

Re: Setup Questions

1 stands on a wooden floor I usually use pennies like Hermann or washers which come with the spike (no hole in the middle but a centration dip) no blue tack for me … as direct connection as possible but that can make the loudspeakers/stands rock out of position so I fixate the washer with some thick...

Re: EVENTS

are there any plans for Lejonklou to attend any of the smaller shows in Europe this year or beginning of next year?
Or do you have plans for launch events at dealers for Tundra Mono 3 and Superkikkin?
It would be great to meet you and hopefully also Thomas and Marco in person.

Re: More About Powering a System

would it make sense in a situation where you have two SM’s and two TM‘s (or two JBL‘s) to do like this:

[SM left][SM right] [Source] [Empty] [TM right][TM left]

… to somehow compensate for the advantages and „disadvantages“ of the channels to be closer to the power input

would be very interested to hear those clips and also what changed your mind (really only the one setup issue you mentioned?)
are they the same silvers you tested against the blacks long time ago or different ones?

Re: More About Powering a System

But now I see I should maybe try to have no empty socket between source and JBLs if I am looking at the order of tested situations from MI8 Why? It seems to be consensus now to have at least one empty socket between source and poweramp/active speakers. well the order MI8 put the different options w...

Re: More About Powering a System

seems the picture is becoming even more clear with the feedback from MI8 also in my case the move of the JBL‘s more far away from the source and the Pre was not only less musical but also had a nasty harschness in the hights and sounded a little bit „restless“ understanding background voices became ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Hi beck - you meant the distance of the physical cords on the floor or the distance from each other in the power distribution block. I experimented with my power distribution block (Claas Olsen) which had only 6 sockets so I am short of some for the 2JBL´s and daisy chained another Claas Olsen power...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

on comparison 1 I preferred B when I came to Comparison 2 and heard A I thought why is A now as good as B in comparison 1?
In my system the Black‘s have „more drive“ in a good way and the Silvers are more „elegant“ … I use the Blacks currently.

Re: Tundra Mono 3

I always thought its the impedance matching which helps so with a decent pre amp its more musical. But maybe its more that the pre amp is kind of making sure that the source "sees" no influences from further down the path and acts like some kind of a "buffer".

Re: Tundra Mono 3

interesting find - I somehow thought it would be like that (well there was a chance it would be different with your equipment). It somehow reminds me of the experience I have with those passive pre amps. Always sounded like the music is robbed out of the signal.

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

I think this became a more theoretical discussion which is good for sharing some experiences but is maybe the not so perfect approach in a forum where we speak about musicality … especially when non of us has heard the 360‘s live. I might take the chance to hear them at the High End in Munich to hav...

yes to me that is not a good sign - doesnt look the amp is in control but rather the bass driver playing games.
