Ahh, there's a 109 mod thread that involves new SEAS woofers... had me confused; doesn't take much ;) Never mind; as you were :)

Re: Charlie1's System

Finally found some 109s that I like and can now understand why other folks rate them. Fourth time lucky! Very nice match with Lejonklou electronics too. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/70lywob7zmdqul0cj18l9/20231004_134527.mp4?rlkey=ddifingvlqn6jsjxmvlbrl7ye&dl=0 Are you still positioning them, and ...

The AmpliFi HD units have been unavailable for some time and don't look to be coming back (the US store doesn't even list AmpliFi units and the Canadian store shows the HD unit as sold out, other stores show it as out of stock or back-ordered). Re: Tundra Mono 3

Yes - Marco managed to locate a new pair so I went for it. Before Brexit I just used to send the units to Fredrik. Now it’s quite a convoluted process and takes much longer. From what Thomas and Marco have said, I’m sure I would have been just as pleasantly shocked by the upgraded ones. My monos ar...

Re: Superkikkin

The two inputs on Superkikkin are selected with the switch. The reason for this is that it keeps the circuit optimised in terms of power consumption, which makes it sound better than if remote controlled switches and associated circuitry had been used... Can’t wait to hear what you think of it! Jus...

We need to find the right balance, and avoid being exclusive. I agree, let us talking about finding the right balance. As a member here I was absolutely displeased to get attacked with "argumentum ad hominem" by a troll or spammer after I told him something about what we think here about musicality...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here

I think the more the forum settings are for prevention of troll attacks the less is the workload for moderators. Locking of old threads for newbies is directed to do prevention since the troll can not post there and then there is no need for the moderator to react. Further I see no issue for newbie...

Re: Is there a “best” test track?

If doing A/B comparisons, I’d rather use a song I’m not too familiar with otherwise it’s too easy to fill in the missing bits because you’re so familiar with the piece. Could argue the same in reverse against using a set test track: familiarity could lead to a more detail oriented assessment, liste...

If it's easy - just a few settings in phpBB - and unobtrusive except, intentionally, to new members*, then I'm not completely against the idea. I just question the effort vs effectiveness vs extent of the problem... and if we only apply it to older threads, not current, that wouldn't prevent the pro...

is there meanwhile any verdict where streaming Spotify through AppleTV finds its place compared to other control points in the list? Has anyone tried using a 9th gen iPad* as a control point? Apparently it utilizes the same A13 chip as the iPhone 11 - just wondering if it represents good musical value for money?

iPadOS / iOS 17 ?

Is anyone planning to upgrade to 17 this coming week, and prepared to report on any impact on control point musicality, positive or negative? … Someone just mentioned an akurate kontrol in a recent post as a Great preamp but I can’t seem to find that thread. I’m on the verge of buying a pre 2010 Akurate Kontrol and was wondering if that had a DVC as well or is it considered an analog amp with dacs for the digital inputs. Has anyone tried...

Re: Damping an Akurate Radikal?

“Stick with it” :) - I like that… From what I gather, it’s only with the adhesive that it damps. Just placing it on top would be equivalent to placing a magazine on top. But thanks for the thought. I may start by placing small piece on the inside of the casing, rather than a large piece. I have eno...

Re: Damping an Akurate Radikal?

We know that a Klimax Radikal is better. I’ve heard it myself. But I have the Akurate casing. Has anyone ever tried adding damping to the Akurate casework? I’ve just had my car doors damped with Dynamat to minimise the speaker boom/resonance. This was successful, and there are some offcuts… Dynamat...
