If you read about the Harman methodology it's not time or staff intensive to go from concept to prototype.

I'm confusing nothing.

There's a body of science to back up the theory. Read what I wrote - there are carefully worded caveats about musicality.

I missed that too because the use of parenthesis implies that "exact order subject to correction" applies to the bearing in the sentence used.

Re: LP12 Building Advice

I think you missed 'exact order subject to correction', Lego. The main bearing is perhaps the most important part of the LP12 and the plinth is way down on the list. That I am not convinced of Karousel is a different matter entirely. I have installed a bunch of them, tried various torques and liste...

Thank you Lego! I've already established my preference for preamp first. I did that when I still had a Urika. On your clips I ranked Kairn-Lingo-Linto first, and Kairn-Linto-Lingo last. Accordingly I've swapped my Entity-Radikal for Radikal-Entity. Nice! You're welcome David ,glad to hear it. Unuse...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

Very stupid to judge by specs instead of listening. 708P is without doubt the best speaker I've heard and I couldn't care less about the technical solutions used when it is obviously very well implemented for musical performance. Couldn't agree more. If you don't trust your ears it's maybe time to ...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

I am not sure if my understanding is right but that ST STA350BW is directly functioning as a power amp so there is for the 308 only signal conversion analog into digital and the 350 is some kind of a digital power amp? For the 3 series the Cirrus ADC does analogue to digital conversion, the STA350B...

what I was trying to say is the 708 transfers analog to digital and than digital to analog and than drives the ClassD amp where the 308 transfers analog to digital and than uses a digital amp directly without transferring back to analog before so it seems one conversation less. I know its a theoret...

COOKING' does it for me. But what's most striking is how invisible the influence of the JBL ADC/DAC is. I experienced the same unimpeded clarity with my Rega P9. The engineering by JBL is masterful.

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

310S passing signal or not should not have anything to do with which connections you are using on the pre-amp. If it works when you are using tape out, it should work when you are using line out unless there is a fault in your pre-amp (the line-outs are completely dead). That was my assumption too ...

It is because bitrate is not high on the list things of things that matter most when it comes to streaming performance. Re: JBL 308P and 708P

Why use tape out? That has fixed volume, right? Does that mean that you play the subwoofer on the same level regardless of the volume of the 308P? 3. Preamp line out -> 310S -> 308P is the way I would connect it. I tried your suggestion first and got no signal passing from the 310S to the 308P. I'l...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

The JBL LSR 310s arrived as scheduled. I'm experimenting with the configurations. The main options are: 1. preamp (tape out) > 310s > 308P. 2. preamp (tape out) > 310s plus preamp line out >308P. Both options sound very musical. The 310s uses the same ADC chip but a slightly different codec chip (CS...

Re: NAS Hard Drive 'problems' (maybe)

The accepted "wisdom" in the IT world for NAS drives is to use matching make and model of hard drive. My experience is that's risky. I've experienced a failure of two WD black caviar drives. They were from the same batch and had the same fault. These days my Netgear NAS has drives from two different...
