After posting yesterday I hooked up amp and speakers again. This time I tightened the screws on the shortcuts between the upper and lower connectors on speakers and voilà out came a full rich sound. :D

Evaluation is going on now.

Thanks

I would very interested if anybody´s heard a dynamiked 2250.

Thanks for your reply Fredrik, Well the sound with the AV2250 and ATC SCM 20 was quite dull compared to that of my active 10-2s and I suspect there is some kind of mismatch here. The SCM 20s has four posts for bi-amping first I made a mistake connecting to one pair and it happened to be the mid and ...

Thank you for your comments. The Nuforces was a tip from a friend. Today I have tried a 2250 with the passive ATC20 but it was not a good combination. I still have the active ATC 10-s and they are better in every way. I have also a borrowed tube power amp and that works a lot better with the 20s. Bu...

Nuforce anyone?

I have recently bought some 2nd hand ATC 20 that are "inefficient". Now I have to find a good power amp to drive them. I will certainely test Linn's 2250 and or C2200. But these amps interest me on paper. Did anyone in this qualified community hear them? I am eager to hear any comments 8) http://www...

A Dane is selling ATC 150 EL with active 6-channel amps for third of the new-price.

If I had that kind of money I'd jump at it. Meanwhile I am interested in SCM ASL 20. :)

Yesterday I finall got to hear
source Denon Dvd player(!)
ATC pre and power amps
1 ATC SCM 11 passive
2 ATC SCM 40 passive
3 ATC SCM 50 Tower active

All were fantastic at conveying music especially the voices. The best I ever heard. I am sorry Linn.

A possibility to hear ATC in Sweden

The Swedish importer of ATC speakers is a registered exhititor at the "high end" fair in Stockholm Feb 13. Since they are only marketed towards proffessional users this is the only oppurtunity I have come across for to hear some larger siblings to my small monitors. I am looking forward to this. :)

I have set up my REL according to the manual. Which made a great difference. First I placed it into the corner where it made the most noise and only then did I adjust the frequency and volume. But it is difficult to hear those fine steps in frequency. Maybe I have not found the right bass drum music...

Thanks Fredrik,
I remember daisy chaining from my former Linn power amps.

I have got at cheap Y-connector from pre-out now. It made the REL sort of disappear. The tune is fine. Still adjustments to be made. I realise a solder will improve the signal path.

At first I did try to use the outputs are marked for surround use. It did not work. Now I use the dedicated sub.

So soldering is needed to get at right or left channel.

How idiotic an Exotik
with all those outputs and inputs

 Thank you. I would not have liked the sound of that signal. As it is I am not sure what my precent signal is? It is not stated in the manual. I would like it to be either left or right channel after reading the posts above.

One thing about this hobby is changing plans... After some thinking I bought the sub today. It is a Rel Strata 5 which had been used for demos. After carrying this heavy beast upstairs to our flat I connected it to one of the Exotik outputs but nothing came out of the sub. Tried different outputs an...

I would like to hear some big ATCs sometime but they are only sold for studios where I live so no shops keep them.

Thank you Fredrik,

This Saturday I sat down at my dealer's shop and listened to Majik DS and Akurate DS through Akurate pre and a power amp driving a pair of Majik 140 passively.

Wow.

Do I want the Akurate! Yes. Sub can wait.

I am considering either the new Sennheiser cans or a sub. My preamp is an Exotik and it has a dedicated sub-out and a meny-coice of Sub. Is this inferior to the ordinary line-out? My speakers are active ATC 10-2 a stand-amount speaker. Is it wise to go for a sub before getting so called full-range s...

Dear All,

I have had an interesting experince following

AVI ADM 9.1

Yesterday I finally heard what the AVI ADM 9.1 speakers could do with a digital signal from a cd transport. They were really very good, we almost had Bob Dylan in the room with us.
