I always thought that the Lingo put a lot of noise back into the mains so it should be plugged in together with the old linn power amps on the same strip away from pre amps and pre pre amps.I think i once used an old AM or MW radio to listen to the mains noise and when i plugged in the Kairn the noi...

I'm pretty sure they'll all have the same DAC whether the Akurate will be 4K well just have to wait and see,it wont be long,I could be wrong tho' asI did have quite a lot to drink that night!!? I bet even the majik DS will do things that no other cd player can do even the CD12 its THat fundamental. ...

Talking to Gilad and the bloke who developed the DS I think his name is Keith, i doubt Linn will be bringing out any supa dupa cd playa like the cd12 in the future. Keith told me he wanted to make the DS a true source,so no way was he going to add a cd player or a facility to plug in an ipod !!?? no...

Klimax DS & Akurate DS

I listened to the Klimax DS last night,it was very impressive,it made the Akurate cd player sound clunky. The demonstration was done by Gilad, and he did a very good job.I think the Akurate DS will be out by the month it'll have the same DAC as the Klimax and you'll be able to plug in your Ikemi Thoma...

Just got back from a George Clinton gig,boy was it amazing and what a finale,it reminded me of something Herbie Hancock said about a Sun Ra gig he went to.
'At the start of the concert the chord was so big I had to leave'

Well done Azezllo! You know it makes sense, that broken sound you are talking about is just the speakers hang on in there and youll forget the sound of the Ninkas,i feel however that if you used an old pair of kans, II or earlier you'll be blown away and you will really hear what your LP12 is up to.O...

Re: more questions (Thank you!)

And in my daydreamed future system, I've been thinking of someday going Aktiv with my Ninkas and some as-yet-unpurchased future amps -- but maybe a better (and simpler, less expensive) route would be to just run my Klout into a passive Majik 140!) Bring back the days when good retailers wouldnt sel...

Of those I have tested, the old ones have been a bit better, in my opinion. Makes me wonder why Linn did the change. The new type sounds more direct and precise, but the old type has more flow. Has anyone else compared them? Please share your experience! Using the tune method i prefer the new ones,...

Here we have what is probably the best DAC in existence and no way to connect a UniDisk, Ikemi, iPod, etc. to improve their performance. These seem to me rather large oversights especially in a product that is rumored to sell for almost $19000 US If you had a DS why would you want to play your ipod...

In my experience, if someone uses the Tune Method and still comes to "funny conclusions", there is usually a reason for this. I have met many Linn customers who have claimed strange things (like "My Karik is better than my Unidisk") and when I have checked their equipment/system they have almost al...

Too true Lejonklou ,if a turntable conveys clicks and pops clearly it should also be very good at conveying that what we have is merely a finest nude diamond stylus getting dragged along a piece of plastic or maybe vice versa.Anyway good luck and if you find a cleaner and fluid that works really wel...

Hi Lejonklou, I have tried the disko stat thing shown on link above and it works quite well except any bad clicks that were on the record usually sound a good deal louder and clearer, tho' surface noise is a good deal less;so i suppose you end up with a more dynamic record :? I went through a phase ...

Streamed playback versus cd playback

Hi Guys, Its about time linn got round to getting this digital music thing sorted. If you think back to portable cd players we all used them at some point but rarely found them enjoyable: go on admit it . It wasn't until I bought a 40 Gb i-river player(and more so the Sansa ) that I realized that str...

Yes you're correct lejonklou i just thought that was how everyone made comparisons(although when i think back to the lk1 pre amp i remember it to be more tunefull than the kairn!?); following the tune is a lot easier than comparing bass definition or the like. The real test was if i could notice a di...
