HAKAI NAS

Ok, So I'm finally up and running with my HAKAI NAS. It's built on the Gigabyte N3050N-D2P Motherboard, one 160 GB, and one 300 GB Intel 320. Everyting else to HAKAI spec. After a number of horribly frustrating attempts of making the ***** **** work I managed to find a solution simple enough for an ...

Re: NAS Software

Thank you Lego! I got it working today with Twonky on Windows 10 and Lumin, but will give that a go as well and see if I can “mount” the files to Volumio directly as well!

I’ll post some clips later, but my initial impression is that it improves things by quite some margain!

Re: NAS Software

I cant get Volumio to find anything else than the Qnap (that it just found) and I have no clue what so ever where the problem lies.

Is there someone who can help out? I have tried to share files through Windows, FreeNAS, Miniserver and Asset. Nothing.

Re: NAS Software

Thank you!

Found this tutorial on how to copy files to a Volumio network device, simple enough even for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJL0IsUTFnI

The next problem is how I'm going to get one Hakai to play from the other ... it doesn't work to just assign the folder like with the Qnap.

NAS Software

Where do I even start? Windows? Linux? If I use Linux, will it be easy to move the files from my Qnap..?

I have a 320 with Windows already installed, so it would be the easiest way to move forward...

Re: Motherboards

I have finally managed to compare N3150N-D3V to the N3050N-D2P. Different 320's in them (160 in 3150 and 300 in 3050) Both mounted in the same type of Streacom chassis. I think I prefer the 3050 with the 320 300GB, but only slightly, and I also feel that the variation over time is much larger than t...

I've had quite a lot of problems with my LP12 as well, so I don't have the same warms feelings you seem to have for it ;)

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

I've had too much other things to do for the last couple of weeks, so I havent been contributing here a lot. But I thought it would be good to share with you that I've had quite substantial problems with performance variation in my HAKAI. Some days it has actually been quite bad. I've tried to reins...

Don't count on it! I got my board sometime in May, and at that time it seemed to be available everywhere. Turns out it was the the very last second.

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

I believe that the GSM Plus board you're looking at is not powered by an ATX power supply... So skip it and remember that ATX power is required for this DIY project. Thanks Fredrik. That was my take on it given what you said about the 3160TN... Will wait for a recommended m'board to become availabl...

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

Not sure I understand what you are trying to say? Is the 3150N-D3V much better then the N3050N-D2P..? I wanted a second board so that I have the option to build a NAS. The 3050N-D2P has only two SATA ports, which is fine for a HAKAI streamer, but the 3150N-D3V has four SATA ports, so for a NAS it c...

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

Motherboards! I struck lucky by finding a N3050N-D2P on ebay. So far, so good. Built a HAKAI. Then I got greedy. I wanted to see whether a HAKAI NAS would beat my LSNAS. So I bought a 3150N-D3V for its extra SATA ports, "untested". When I realised it had no HDMI, and I had no means of seeing what w...

Motherboards

As you might have read in the main thread, I have built my HAKAI on a Gigabyte N3150N-D3V motherboard. I have also ordered parts to build a HAKAI-NAS and since everything has arrived exept the motherboard, I decided to try and build a streamer with the Asus E45M1-I Deluxe Mini-itx (LSNAS) motherboar...

Its probably good if we try to stay strict on topic in this thread, since it's going to be important for everyone trying to build a HAKAI. Please start new threads for discussions about DAC-technology and things like that :)

Re: HAKAI

That's a week now I've been using Volumio and I must say I take back what I said about it being flaky, I think it's very robust and stable as I've had absolutely no issues with it. Unfortunately, I think it is really really unstable specifically with HAKAI, while it might work just fine with other ...
