Re: LP12, Router, Nas and much more

if you look at the photos I linked in the grey T-Kable discussion you see a screw which is used to fix the arm cable plug to the arm column and that is the arm cable set scew.

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

the topic didnt let me rest as I thought I have seen Thomas writing something years ago when the Linn Aluminium DIN Plug came out ... so far I have not found that article but I found something else which might give an information how the two grey T-Kables perform: I definitely agree that the Akito c...

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

really sorry for the confusion created so this one is the old grey t-Kable with the sme metal DIN arm plug (I was under the impression that the black metal was plastic) https://www.dropbox.com/s/flawhfjparwyt0k/Foto%2004.06.20%2C%2011%2013%2052.jpg?dl=0 and this is the new grey T-Kable with the Linn...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

well Thomas that was actually a comparison I was waiting for. I am pretty impressed if 1 and 4 are the new MKIIs / not completely burned in Silver Interconnects because if they are out of the box that good to create confusion if your selected old Silvers are better than there is a good hope those ar...

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

o.k. now I probably created more confusion - and I am even more confused by myself but I think we need to clarify otherwise we leave this discussion confusing for others: the newest grey T-Kable is the one with an aluminium (dull/frosted) Linn DIN plug (the link Mateo gave on page 1) and slotted lin...

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

oh, now I see you replaced it with the same type (black plastic DIN plug and non slotted connectors) I was under the impression it was the newer type - so good we found that out.

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

I remember Fredrik had an older grey cable with the older non slotted plugs that broke and he has now the new one and said its good but that was probably not comparing them directly

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I prefer 1 and 4

for me for clip 2 something is more highlighted but distracts from the main flow which I enjoy in clip 1
However, always nice to hear your system also with clip 2/3

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

Same feelings for me I would also add that the XLR black t-kable is even worst than the Mogami RCA. M. is the older grey T-Kable with the old non slotted RCA connectors as well as the black arm connector better or worse than the newer Akito grey T-Kable with the newer slotted RCA connectors and the...

Re: LP12, Router, Nas and much more

Noooo!! At this time all new LP12s, even Majik level, should come with factory installed Karousel. There is no need to load up a Majik just to get a free karousel unless you want a second one. I think you misunderstood what I wrote - of course the new Majik LP12 comes with a new Karousel and if the...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

needed to have 2 rounds to decide. With the first go I was not happy with option 1 nor option 2. Than I was reading becks comment and wanted to hear how he came to the conclusion. I have to agree with him option 1 (with the diffusor on the middle of your table) sounds more musical to me. However, op...

Re: LP12, Rooter, Nas and much more

yes the old lingo is getting old now - the new majik one could be on par but I have never compared them to give you an evidence based idea - however the Majik one gives you only 33 1/3 speed but not 45

Re: LP12, Rooter, Nas and much more

here is my thoughts: I would probably buy a new Majik LP12 and make sure you buy enough upgrades like Trampolin or Kore with it to lift you over the limit which gives you a Karousel for free. Than you can move the things which you would like to keep from your old LP12 to the Majik (like the arm cabl...

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

there are probably 3 camps some say there is no burn in its just the brain which gets used to it or there is nothing happening at all some say there is no need to run a signal through (the noise which is inevitable is enough to help with run in) I am in the camp that says there need to be a music si...

Re: Linn T-Kable worth the upgrade

Hey Folks, I have a Linn LP12 with an Ittok LVII that came with an older Ekos tonearm cable (not the Mogami version that comes with the Ekos SE). Just the other day I had a Grey T-Kable installed and It sounds harsh and two dimensional compared to the old Ekos cable. The grey T-Kable was unused so ...

Re: Tony Tune-age System

I am happy you asked this question as I also feel that having the LP12 in a corner has an advantage but also a disadvantage advantage: really good coupling to the house - less influence if the floor is not stable enough (wood planks) disadvantage: probably sound waves in the corner slightly disturbi...

Hi Ron, thank you for the insights ... yes its also my experience that ex-wifes have some black hole like gravitational forces ... what happens to get into their orbit you will never see again. But back to the topic, if we think about it: the bearing and the inner platter mate over the first months ...

Re: The proof is in the listening

Beck I know which procedure you mean with respect to Soundsmith. I asked this question about opinions here and got a strait and fast answer from Thomas that this is nonsense. Yes its sometimes difficult especially when you cant stop your focus being on just some parts of the music presentation - sou...

Re: Ekos II blow and swing test

just a little update. I did take out the arm to send it to service. As I was curious I performed a swing test. The horizontal bearing did swing about 80x (which would indicate the bearing is fine) The vertical bearing did swing about 40x (which would indicate an issue). But the horizontal bearing ha...

Re: Jelco throws in the towel ...

Matteo was also sending a link in another discussion yesterday. Its sad news as that is also bad for some of the OEM companies that used products from Jelco - but maybe one of those is taking them over. However less companies means less competition and that means prices are usually going up. Another...

Re: The Mighty AT95E Becomes The AT-VM95E

hi tokenbrit I asked more or less the same question somewhere ... I asked if I now have a Linto and an Arkiv B if it would be an upgrade to buy the Adikt/Slipsik 7 (as I was afraid of the higher running costs of an MC system). So my question was the other way around. Fredriks answer was that would b...

Re: Oscar's system and first world problems

Hi Oscar, dont worry about the condition of the tool - is good american craftmanship and even with some scratches the tool will work fine. I think Thomas has some experience with Rega tables but I also expect the screws that hold the arm are the most sensitive to the musicality. However you might ev...
