Thanks Thomas and Fredrik. Sorry for my delayed response. I somehow overlooked your posts until just now. I hope my oversight doesn't ruin my opportunity to send it to Linn, if necessary. I just emailed my friend to see if he wanted to try installing Fredrik's brilliant or a slimline brilliant that ...

Fredrik, that would be fantastic if you found a working round Brilliant for me. Please let me know what you find. Thomas, thanks for your offer to help. Financially, the Kairn didn't pick a good time to fail, but I guess those are the "breaks." I'd rather not spend so much money to repair an old pre...

Brilliant power supply needed
I’m afraid the power supply in my trusty old Kairn is going bad. I’m told that I need a Brilliant power supply to fix it (either round or slim-line). Does anyone have any suggestions for locating a Brilliant? I’m in the U.S. and without a local dealer.
Thanks,
Eric
Thanks,
Eric

Kairn - accessing User Selectable Options / Unity Gain
I’m having trouble accessing the “User Selectable Options” on my Kairn (ser # 6000+). According to the manual that I downloaded from Linn’s site, I’m supposed to “First switch off the pre-amplifier. Press and hold either the Mono or the Mute button pressed until the display changes to U1…” I can’t g...

How easy is it to browse a large music collection with Linn's DS range? I see the DS comes with software, but I wouldn't want to use a PC in order to change albums etc. Can the DS be controlled by a pocket PC or something similar, without the need for having the PC powered up? From the site below it...

Thanks again, to everyone. It seems like the SC might be the most economical choice, since it comes with the pre. I believe it would be good enough for my needs, if it is as good as my old 5103. The key will be whether the SC can work in conjunction with an A/V processor. In essence, the SC would ne...

Thanks guys. This is all very interesting, as the Ikemi, SC, and Majik CD all are within a similar price range (used) here in the US. I now have a Naim CD5i, but as I move back to Linn, I might eventually consider changing my digital source. The SC has a lot of extra parts that I wouldn't need, but ...

I've been out of the loop for a while. How do the Linn CD players stack up against each other? Is this about right (worst to best)?

Thanks guys. Any idea how much these amps would cost in the US, and any suggestions for finding them used, besides Audiogon/eBay? Also, what stereo pre-amps would be good options to consider to go with these amps or the 5125? My only requirement is unity gain for use with an AV receiver. Thanks, Eric

Music Lover: Thanks for the advice. I'm happy with my LP12, so I think I'll leave it alone at least until I get everything else worked out. I'm looking to downgrade, and I believe I could go with a couple of Linn boxes and be happy. With Naim, there are all of the power supplies, and the Naim gear i...

Switching back to Linn
I used to have a Linn system that I really enjoyed (5103/Klouts/Aktiv Kabers), but when it came time to upgrade I was unimpressed by Linn's Akurate/Artikulate lines, so I switched over to a Naim system centered around SBLs. I like Naim, but I would have to dump a lot of money into the system to reac...
