Re: Slipsik 7

I think people are realising just how much of a Turntables performance is unlocked by a good phonostage - and happy to pay (what in LP12 terms is a small ) premium for the benefit. Phonostages may be at the tail end of a Turntables upgrade list, but good ones seem to produce a combination of musical...

Re: M140 to Akudorik upgrade advise

Try them before you buy them - at home with your existing system. The last thing you want is to buy a great musical speaker ( even at a bargain price) and then find that you are forced to start upgrading expensive items before you are ready. If funds and time are not an issue - no big deal - but it ...

Re: M140 to Akudorik upgrade advise

The advice about Exaktbox Katalyst and source first is good. But, if you like the Akudoriks and the price is very good, don't hesitate to buy them with the future upgrade of the Exaktbox in mind. Sometimes following source first is not a practical solution if the right opportunity comes up to get t...

Re: Thoughts on HiFi

I suspect the composer does not 'enjoy' the music as much as the listener ( who will be moved by a great reproduction of the music either live or recorded, but not so much by a poor reproduction of the same). In the same way a brilliant author will not be moved by their poem/novel whilst they are in...

Re: Thoughts on HiFi

At a very simplistic level I think most people will ‘enjoy’ a piece of music they like on most systems. For some that is all they ever need and they are happy bunnies. Members of my family all appreciate the ‘better’ music in the main system , but only I get a fix from it. Yes, I wonder why that is...

Re: Entity MC

Yes

The curiosity, excitement and anticipation of a new Lejonklou product is often quickly replaced by a feeling of being compelled towards a purchase that one had not planned, nor budgeted for.

But always worth it and no regrets so far.

Re: A poll for Sagatun owners

I have LP12 / KDS/2 and the pre out feed on the AV amp ( to run Left and Right front speakers on Unity Gain.)

LP 12 is on single source although, as it sounds so good without it on, I usually forget to switch it.

Re: Entity MC

Fredrik

For someone who has only ever used an Adikt with either AK/1 or Gaio/Slipsik , and is relatively new to vinyl - what difference might I expect moving to Krystal/Entity - in terms of musicality and sound.

Are MM cartridges better for certain types of music ie vocals ?

Re: Entity MC

I thought I was done with my LP12 for a while but it looks like I was wrong - I suspect a Krystal /Entity combination may keep the KDS/3 upgrade waiting.

I am assuming Entity will work with Krystal/Kandid and may even have been 'tuned' with these two cartridges in mind.

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

Well, Linn have just announced an interesting change. By popular demand they are reinstating the Klimax DS and the Akurate DS into the line! The Klimax DS remains at $23,375, the same price as the KDSM and what it was selling for when discontinued. I guess I wasn't the only one who complained to Li...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Whilst it may be difficult/ impossible to optimise all of the different aspects of digital reproduction, my experience is that a good NAS drive ( i have a combined ripper/ NAS) with a recommended NETGEAR switch and cables when combined with a good Linn streamer ( and a good digital recording) is eno...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I prefer A on all three tracks. Easier to follow and more together. A couple of the B versions come across as shouty. I agree - A on these clips I find them just more musical- the timing is better as were the B clips in the previous comparisons. If it holds out in real life - definitely worth re ri...

On the clips above, Even with the curtains closed I much prefer B.

Would be interesting to compare with different types of music.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

More musically together, and better balanced with. Loses something (a lot) without, and changes the presentation to more vocal fwd almost to the point of shouty for me. I can understand Charlie liking it for a more raw & immediate connection to the vocalist; it just loses too much overall for me th...

Re: Entry Level Lejonklou MC

Hi everyone! Hope you had a joyous Midsommar with lots of dancing around poles. I did! Some answers: Slipsik sized ( and priced ?) unit would tempt Adikt users like me who might wish to dabble with Krystal. OK! Price wise, I think it will end up at Slipsik+50%. The main board for the MC version cos...

Re: SINGularity

Yes - all of which involve staying clear of Urika and avoiding both the potential of the Trampolin foot touching the Radikal motor and now the issue of it adversely affecting the power supply to the Turntable.

Good time to be developing MC phonostages for LP 12s.

Re: Entry Level Lejonklou MC

I think with the increasing awareness of the Radkikal /Trampolin issue and the reluctance of some Linn dealers to accept / fix it; a Lejonklou alternative(s) to Urika would be great. I don't follow you on this one. How does a Urika competitor solve the issue of the Trampolin foot touching the Radik...

Sounds like we would like Two new MC stages: 1 Slipsik sized unit which would be great value for money and an entry level for Krystal level cartridge 2 Aluminium Singularity which would be more musical than Urika 1 but hopefully not too much more expensive. I think with the increasing awareness of t...

Obsessive Compulsive, along with Genius would perhaps best describe the qualities needed to produce some of the brilliant equipment coming from Lejonklou HQ. Slipsik 7 may be the latest and most favourably reviewed at the moment, but I think the Sagatuns, Tundras and Boazu have been received with eq...

Finally got access to my LP12 and replaced Slipsik 6.1 with version 7, now with a few hours of burn in with the RP3. Wow - it took all of 3 seconds of London Grammars 'Hey Now' to realise that this a huge upgrade over an already fantastic phonostage. Further listening confirmed that everything is ju...

6 days on and I can confirm that my Rega Planar 3 has been utterly transformed by Slipsik 7 and with Boazu and Komponent 110s makes for a great Bedroom system. As others have pointed out the music has been getting better the more I use the Slipsik. I compared the same album on digital with the sneak...

Re: Slipsik 7

Slipsik 7 arrived today and as my Main music room is unavailable I decided to hook it up to my 34 year old Rega Planar 3, Boazu and Komponent 110s.

Wow - what a difference.

The Gaio 1 already sounded good but this is like a major source upgrade.

Can’t wait to try it with the LP12.
