On my old mini I pad I preferred the red yesterday - but on the iphone today I prefer Green!
Checked again on the same I pad - red again.
Does not make sense to me.
My usual device for listening to clips is is the iphone however.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
If I were to to take on home -I would choose the Black deck with Valhalla /Ittok. To my ears, the oak deck is more impressive sound wise, but the Black one plays a better tune. Lingo1, Ekos2, Adikt. ;-) Yes - thanks for the correction Beck. The black deck in the clips does indeed have Lingo 1 / Eko...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I was going to suggest the opposite: after taking a well deserved break, keep tweaking and when you feel you cannot go further -set up a new thread on the Forum. 'How beck made his CD player sing' This will encourage us lesser mortals to perhaps try CD again - i have hundreds sitting in my loft hopi...

No impressions from the first units yet?
There must be someone out there who has had the opportunity to listen.

Re: upgrade path
For me I have no doubt that the ALP12 is more musical, more emotionally engaging (more 'right' more 'alive') than the AHub streaming Tidal. Everyone who listens to the system comes to that conclusion. Yet, the AHub sounds very musical too, and I happily listen to streamed music. The bottom line is ...

Re: upgrade path
Optimizing a digital system will not make the ADSM3 sound more musical than a well set up LP12- but it might make it enjoyable to listen to and allow access to a huge library of digital music. It is worth it for me as I listen to both vinyl and digital and enjoy the vast array of music I have at my ...

Re: upgrade path
Streaming is one way to avoid NAS drive issues.
Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz all quite good - try the with your ADSM and see if one floats your boat.
A good network switch is advisable and for some of us an analogue preamp is preferable to DVC.

Re: Giella headphone amp
Looking forward to the reviews of Giella. Never been into headphones but my curiosity has now been tweaked and yesterday I ordered a set of Grado 125e . Out of the box- Sounds really quite good with my IPad mini and so much better with the sneaky /Rega Brio in the Kitchen. They are actually very lig...

Re: Giella headphone amp
Wow - I have not even had time to think about this and they are gone. My only issue with Giella is that it is proving to be quite a distraction. I should be thinking about my main system and upgrading the Kore or adikt/slipsik ; or KDS2, and not trying to look for headphones which will rock. Hell, I...

Re: Giella headphone amp
Congratulations on the Giella. How would I connect a Headphone amp in my system? Thank you u252agz! I would connect it to the second outputs (the lower ones) of the Sagatun Mono's. Then I'd set the Giella volume to a level that matches the loudness of when your loudspeakers are playing. And use the...

Re: Streaming service
I think it is unreliable to develop firm opinions about streaming. My experience is that they all vary from time to time, dependent upon the source material on their hard disks and network noise and traffic (which will vary). Possibly one's own equipment will process it differently at different tim...

Re: Streaming service
Great idea.
I think it is worth having a fight over this.
The signal feel to the DS ( along with the rest of the digital installation) is absolutely key to getting a musical sound out of these expensive devices.

Re: Streaming service
When I switched to streaming in January this year, I definitely thought Spotify was much more musical than Tidal ( in comparision Tidal sounded quite poor), but Qobuz was better. I thought it had the edge in musicality ( definitely not worse) and was much better with the Hi Fi sounds. I will sign up...

Re: Streaming service
Adding an integrated amp is a great way to upgrade a sneaky. I have just added a Rega Brio to my kitchen sneaky ( not enough space for a Boazu) and it really improves the musicality and sound - so much more enjoyable. Thanks! I've always thought it sounds 'just right' with Katans but will have to t...

Re: Streaming service
I'm talking non classical here. I have two interests at the moment which are traditional Scottish Folk ... Have you looked at Spotify? Hopefully you can get an initial idea, at least, from this link . I don't know how it compares with Deezer or Qobuz or Tidal, but it should be supported on your Lin...

Re: upgrade path
Spending thousands of euros or dollars on a Klimax digital source makes no sense whatsoever when you have low efficiency slimline ported speakers like Linn M140's. It made perfect sense when to me I upgraded a Sneaky DS to a KDS with Lejonklou amps and Linn Ninkas-Biggest upgrade I have heard to da...

Re: Any decent streamer?
Hi all! Does anyone know of any musical streamer sub Selekt/Akurate prices? That is, if you don't want the hassle with putting one together yourself. Naim ND5 XS 2 for example? A s/h Majik DSM/3 as a pure streamer? Or for less money, the bluesound node 2i? Etc… I have no clue! I don't think this ha...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
This is an interesting one for me ; I use 'enjoyment' and foot tapping as key indicators of musicality, and when I don't like the music - find it more difficult to decide. I initially opted for B as it was less annoying for me ( A sounded even more tiresome) but listening a second time (and putting ...
