Re: Linn Akurate Exaktbox10 + Amps

Having heard both passive Akubariks (with Exaktbox and external amps) vs integrated Akubariks in a back-to-back A/B comparison I was in no doubt that the passive setup was much superior in all ways. No matter what they try and tell you the amplification in integrated Akubariks is NOT at Akurate leve...

I have a used Linn Miniline PSU that may be what you are looking for?

I am, however, in the UK?

PM me if interested.

Re: Linn AV5103

I appreciate that the chances of getting a fully working PCB number PCAS066L4R6 are close to non-existent so I'm having a go at replacing the faulty components I have identified so far. So I know that I need to replace a CS8412-CS IC in this Linn AV5103 but am having the run-around in terms of findi...

Anyone out there got a Linn AV5103 for spares only - I am in need of PCB number PCAS066L4R6, it's the top board inside the case?

Re: NAS Hard Drive 'problems' (maybe)

Could consider getting two, then rotate the spare in periodically so that you have a NAS 'backup' in case one of the others starts going bad... I've not come across any advice to rotate spares periodically in the manner you suggest. That would involve having to rebuild the RAID overnight every time...

Re: NAS Hard Drive 'problems' (maybe)

"Warning [Disk S.M.A.R.T.] Host: Disk 1 Complete Test result: Fatal or unknown error." The message is quite clear - you need to replace the hard disk. Thankfully with the QNAP it's a hot swap - just let the RAID rebuild overnight. And we can't say it often enough, RAID is not a backup ! Please ensu...

I've also recently upgraded to MinimServer 2 on my QNAP TS-451 but have to admit that I don't notice any difference to the quality of music? Re: Linn Classik Movie Di

Thanks xanlin

One thing I've learnt about LInn PSUs is that you can never assume!

In the meantime I've acquired a Linn Miniline Universal PSU to play with. Only problem (challenge!) is that this PSU has a ten-pin output adapter while the Classik has a four-pin input adapter - anyone?

Re: Linn Classik Movie Di

Is there anyone out there that owns a Linn Classik Movie Di that could let me know what the outputs from the SMPS are?

There is a ribbon cable from the SMPS to the Amp board that uses four connections and I have no idea what those supplies are?

Thanks Dasher - unfortunately with the one currently on eBay when you plug it in and switch on, it lights up and then powers itself down. Don't really want another Classik Movie Di with an SMPS problem!

Re: Linn Classik Movie Di

So progress with this Linn Classik Movie Di has completely stopped as I am unable to source:-

1. A replacement SMPS
2. A circuit diagram/schematic
3. Details of the outputs from the SMPS to the Amp board?

Can anyone help with any of these options - thanks in advance!

Re: Linn Classik Movie Di

Thanks Thomas - the only identifying mark I could find was PCB254/L4 - don't know if that helps? It's now definitely Game Over in terms of trying to repair this SMPS as the FETs cannot be extracted and replaced. The same seems to be true for the Output Diodes due to the way they have been flow-solde...

Re: Linn Classik Movie Di

Thanks Thomas - a bit more detective work this week uncovered four blown MOSFETs and probably a similar story for the Output Diodes! The way that the FETs are configured with the Drains acting as a heat sink through a matrix of connections to the underside of the board make them seemingly impossible...

Re: Linn Classik Movie Di

Throw caution to the wind and wiggled about with a wooden spudger and the PCB eventually came away from the metal enclosure/sleeve. The problem was the two sticky pads holding it in place:- SMPS Metal Enclosure_1.jpg Scorching is clearly visible which will help in identifying the affected components.

Linn Classik Movie Di

Currently trying to restore a Linn Classik Movie Di which was completely DOA! The SMPS is the chief suspect. As a Lingo 4 owner I was a bit surprised when I read this Thread as I was unaware of any ground problem. Although the OW92 fits and is is a popular option, Linn (i.e. Philbo) has not produced Exakt filters (SO+ V1) for these as they have for the 038/2 tweeters.

Re: Installing Aktive cards into 5125

It seems to be quite common that the cards come with two shorter cables but as you know you also need a longer one for the AV5125.

The part number is CONN226/1/AVP and last time I inquired the price was around £9.00 plus postage.

I may have a spare "long cable" if you are interested?
