Re: Recommended tool for 242 3 k array torque settings

Hi Gussy, You’re right, there are ‘nuts’ which are screwed into the rear of the front baffle, but the bond between the nut and baffle will break down once its ability to resist turning is exceeded. Unfortunately, I know from experience that this can be as low as 1.5Nm, hence the suggestion to not e...

Re: Recommended tool for 242 3 k array torque settings

Hi Spannko, How are you getting on at 0.55Nm? I’ve got a pair of Akudoriks and am following this thread with great interest! Unless, that is, you break the bond between the threaded insert and the cabinet... Thanks Spannko, I also had a hi-fi session this afternoon - 0.55 didn’t last 5 mins, I went...

Re: The Linn forum is officially dead

Personally, I think Linn have done the right thing by closing the forum. It’s really important that everything they’re associated with reflects their core values and its been the case for far too long that an ethos was being promoted on the forum which was clearly at odds with Linns. There were oth...

Re: The Linn forum is officially dead

I see the Wam now has a Linn owners club and several Linn threads appearing. I wonders if it’s time to stop Linn specific threads on here unless Frederik is OK with them continuing. He has been very generous in providing us with a temporary home and I thank him. I was on this forum and will stay on...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

In SO V2 is it possible to set all nodes to 0db (as in V1)? Thanks! The only time you'd want to do that is with Exakt/SO+. Non-Exakt the effect will be the same as turning SO off. So the question will become relevant when SO+ v2.0 arrives! Aha! Thanks for that Timster. I’m using SO+ switched on but...

I upgraded my Akudoriks last year - enormous improvement in sound - like having the warmth of analogue combined with the accuracy of digital.
Discussions regarding DVC are now irrelevant.

Do not hesitate is my adivice...

No, quite the opposite, SO adapts the music to the room.

Matt
Well, for those of us not fortunate enough to have acoustically perfect living rooms, I would maintain that SO is a pretty useful tool.

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

If the room the musicians are playing in has poor acoustics (and I’ve heard a few) then telling them to play differently mightn’t be such a bad idea.... Disagree, let the musicians play and improve or change the room. Matt But that’s exactly what SO is trying to do - to improve the sonic characteri...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

On every system I've come across, and there's been a few, it's sounded more musical when SO was turned off. +1 SO is like telling the musicians playing in a room to play differently. Matt If the room the musicians are playing in has poor acoustics (and I’ve heard a few) then telling them to play di...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.

Thank you all for contributing with information, thank you especially ThomasOK and thank you for having a home here while Linn has thrown us out. Linn gets more and more suspect to me. Re: New Linn Forum

A ‘troubleshooting’ section and a ‘development’ section would be more than enough for me.

There’s a wealth of information in LinnDocs which is still online.

Re: Linn forum down?

Who knows what Linn is trying to do? Their forum was very useful for Newby support. But the same few characters seem to dominate the replies - either repeating answers you may give, or calling yours rubbish. I have looked at a number of forums over the years, and have concluded that many contributo...

Re: Linn forum down?

I think, whatever the reason(s) behind the downtime, it would be a shame to lose the forum, for many reasons mentioned above, but also, in a small way, the ability to raise issues with beta firmware must be helpful to Linn. I can't see the tech folk wanting to lose this line of communication, altho...

Re: Linn forum down?

I found the Linn forum very useful when I started streaming back in 2010 because I had no idea what to do. But now the system works well and I find myself checking out the forum less and less often. In fact, my main source of Linn news is their Facebook page - and on top of that the forum recently s...
