Spotify Connect is full of life compared to the other two, and connects me immediately to the music.

I know I should have recorded and posted clips.... 🤣

Re: Volumio and Airplay

How do you stream if not using Airplay? I’m asking because I’m a bit confused regarding how to play Spotify on Hakai/volumio. As I understand it I can do it by Volumio app, Spotify connect or Airplay? Is there a consensus on what sounds best? I have compared the following: 1. Spotify app on Hakai/V...

Have you compared Airplay quality Vs the Volumio app or Spotify Connect?
I'm not streaming with airplay ,but I'm now using Tinkerboard S streaming Spotify and the difference between that and Hakai is huge , Hakai sounds flat in comparison .

Re: Random thoughts on hifi

Sounding good, beck! Music is communication. Once the level of perfromance of the gear allows it to communicate at a high enough level whole vistas of musical genres you didn't understand open up. Isn't it lovely? I was able to understand and enjoy most genres of music with very low quality of gear...

Re: Four years in the making

And Spotify HiFi is not yet released.......:-) We are really hoping it will be an improvement, but there are no guarantees that will be the case. The resolution of the files is not the most important parameter, so they need to get the others right as well. Hi Fredrik did you find Spotify a bit 'hot...

Re: Volumio Spotify vs. Desktop Spotify

TMV (or anyone else here), Have you compared the sound quality of Spotify on your HAKAI to a home computer running the standard Spotify app? I can do those clips Ron. Does it have to be the Spotify app on the computer or can I use a browser. Lego, Definitely the desktop app because it sounds much b...

I installed latest version of Volumio (2.834 for Asus Tinkerboard S, and the Gigaport HD+ DAC) a couple of weeks ago. usually the spikes come with a small disk/plate where you put the spikes onto (like a washer but without a hole) ... not sure what the right english word is 5F86EC8F-7BFA-420C-9AE7-F820E35FF01A.jpeg Is this better than Skeets ,spikes into stone and wooden floorboards.I tried Skeets when they first ...

Re: Streaming service

I have to say that I have always found Spotify the most musical. However, the sound was much worse than Qobuz, so I couldn't resist the better sound. That's no longer the case. Spotify is now very good in terms of sound and music. It is now the first time that I am quite satisfied with digital. Esp...

Re: Volumio.

The reason I gave it another go was the old "looking for an improvement". There have been many times I tried a recommended change and thought no, but then after a while try again, and hear it's value. I seem to need to be "ready" to accept some changes. The changes which also helped were the disabl...

Re: Volumio and Airplay

I've been trying over the last couple of days. It does seem to be better than from a NAS via network share playing the same file from the same location. It's a real hack at the moment to get anything to work. I put iTunes on my laptop for a quick test, and it played to Volumio via airplay just fine...

I don't think I will renew my Qobuz hi res account - it just doesn't seem worth it. Waiting for Spotify HiFi? Matt I will definitely give it a go. Re: Home Network tweaking (was 'Buy or Rent')

I use Qobuz via WiFi to Audirvana as player on my MBP. Audirvana is loading the files into RAM before playback. For serous listening I switch WiFi off on my MBP after the files have been loaded into RAM. So during playback there is no network activity at all. There is no difference between WiFi off...
