I believe it was the NAC 552. And Linn certainly did highly endorse using the LP12 and Isobariks, SARAs and Kans with Naim electronics...until they came out with their own!
Sorry Thomas it was the 52 I was referring to, not the 552 which is a later preamp

Re: Indoor FM aerial recommendation.

Indeed Thomas thanks .I was hoping that there was one out there that bucked the trend .I think I'll just go back to the T copper wire as I remember it having quite a nice warm musical sound though very hissy. Probably a farewell session .

Re: Magnum Dynalab Antenna and Ekos/1

Last week I was finally able to install the new MD ST-2 antenna, and it's a really great improvement over the previous antenna. The signals are much stronger, and the back ground noise is much lower as well. And needless to say, listening to FM frequencies isn't as unpleasant now. Voices are more n...

Re: Brikin' It !

Thanks Tony. Nice to know it's not always a 100% knockout for everyone and there are shades of grey, albeit differing shades between us. Also you've got to remember Charlie1 you're listening to an LP12 with Naim amps, something Linn would never ever endorse. Maybe you need an Aro 😁 Although I remem...

Thank you Lego ... Do you have experience with this antenna? None whatsoever VAMKD ,I'm not even sure you can buy it in the UK.Do you have any thoughts on its performance,I suppose it's only as good as the environment. No, I don't know how it sounds. Here I talk with Tony and Tom (link that i sent ...

Marcel, What a great story and history! It appears you have the best sounding AT-VM95 on the planet right now. No wonder it sounds so good; you've already taken it to the limit. It's good to get positive feedback of my tracking and torque settings. Where is your café/bar? I'd love to have a drink a...

Re: a bit of fun

This is something I sometimes think about too. For me, it would have to be a system built around the Troika, so it would be pre-circus LP12 + Lingo 1 + Ekos 1 + Kairn + Aktiv x/o + 3 off LK280/Spark + Isobariks + loads of great vinyl and music from the pre-loudness war days. I'm going with this, th...

I am sure Karousel in a Majik sub chassis will outperform Cirkus in a Keel. What makes you so sure Matthias!? The turntable hierarchy and the prereq that performance of Karousel is superior to Cirkus. The bearing takes the first rank in the hierarchy and is most important. The rank of the sub chass...

Re: Karousel

My local Linn dealer wrote this at tonlaget.com. Klimax LP12 is boring VS Akurate with Karousel. I hate this kind of statements. Klimax LP12 has never been boring! I would much prefer them saying "Taking the LP12 to a whole new level." or something like this. Don't worry EMM it's only sales pitch, ...

Wonder how the bearing will affect the hierarchy when considering upgrading.

Re: Karousel

Isn't it weird in clips in the past we can hear improvements in bias settings, ethernet cables torque settings etc,but when it comes to an actual upgrade its the old 'sounds better in the room' routine. This is the second set of clips I've heard and again it wasn't convincing . I think Linn are losi...

That sounds interesting but do you you have any clips to substantiate your claims Germanchu. Its a belief system free zone here :0)

On initial listening I preferred clip 2 to 1 immediately, when I got to clip 3 I couldn't say clip 3 was better than clip 2.. I find the guitar sings more in clip 2..so I'd have to go with 2. I wish I didn't know what I was listening to though

I think the emotional connection we have is just us positively responding to the best kit we have. I'm sure if Thomas was stuck in a log cabin for a year he would very quickly connect emotionally to his kitchen radio if that was all he had. I'm pretty sure if Thomas were stuck in a log cabin for a ...
