Re: LP12 50: If Jony Ive made record players...
The one without compression would always sound better. I also consider the final version of an album to be THE work of art for the audience to enjoy, applaud or criticise. Therefore I also consider the practice of making different mixes for different media an abomination. There should be ONE work o...

Re: Giella ∏ headphone amplifier
Is there any chance of buying a Giella without volume control and line outs?
I would love to buy a headphone amp that I can connect to the power amp outputs of my Klimax DS, use the volume control in the DAC and volume control of the DS.

Re: Linn Launch Event
On a more serious note; I saw a Youtube interview last year of a New York dealer of second hand audio products. Somewhat surprisingly there where a lot of very expensive high end products that where only a couple of years old. The explanation given was that there was a new market segment consisting ...

The best is when the reporter asks them in front of the family how much they have spent on their systems and the whispering and lisping starts. That reminds me of an old joke where one audiophile tells another about a recurring nightmare he has been having: ’I dream that I die and the my wife sells...

Re: Briks missing bass
Hi Hermann, Just saw this now and I havn’t read all the answers so appoologies if my suggestion has been mentioned by someone already. From the drawing in your first post I noticed that the briks ate approx 280 cm from side walls. This is approx 1/3 of the width of the room and is position that mini...

Re: What is an adequate replacement for the briks?
Hi Hermann, I have no experience with Briks but have lived with a pair of NBL’s for the last 14 years (without ever blowing out mids, tweeters or bass units or needing to repair anything else). I have been very satisfied with them while I have upgraded everything else several times. Source and ampli...

Re: In what world..Komri
Sorry if I was misleading. As may be evident I am not really an expert in Linn speakers or amp-configurations. I seem to remember the Komris being active only at release but I can very well be mistaken or passive x-overs may have been added later. Just wanted to encourage a little diligence so a gre...

Re: In what world..Komri
Hi,
These speakers are obviously active so you will need an active cross-over and 6 or 8 channels of amplification. I am not sure but I don’t believe there ever was a passive Komri.
You could buy the 6 Solos from the currrent owner which I would guess has active cards installed.
Good luck
Hans

Torque wrench
Hi!
Can someone suggest where/how I can buy a torque wrench in Sweden (or that can be sent to Sweden) and which one to buy. I need it for my speakers and LP12.
Tried to find the Sturtevant model recommended by some on this site without success.
Best regards
Hans

Re: Urika II
Thanks for all the input so far. I currently use a Naim Superline/Supercap DR into a Naim system, so not Exakt. The LP12 is fitted with Keel, Radikal, Aro and a Koetsu Rosewood Signature Platinum. For streaming I use a KDS (latest model) so I can use this in conjunction with the Urika II. I have hea...

Re: Linn announcements 9/2018, Selekt, etc.
I find this an interesting launch from Linn. In a way this new direction can be said to be inspired by the LP12 which, with its choice of finnishes, power supplies, sub-chassis, tone arms and cartridges is extremely modular and upgradeable (by dealers and in the customers home). The main difference,...

Re: New LP12 Urika II phonostage and Lingo 4
It is a good thing. The U2 did seem to add something to the system that it was missing compared to my own system. Howerver, it was a very limited audition and how the U2 would stack up to my Superline in a side-by-side comparison is an open question.

Re: New LP12 Urika II phonostage and Lingo 4
Thanks for all the replys. Your reasoning is very convincing and seems to imply that the market for the Urika2 is very limited. I have heard it but have hesitated to comment as my experience is far big enough to form a reliable conclusion on. For what it is worth I can say that when I heard at a dea...

Re: New LP12 Urika II phonostage and Lingo 4
There seems to be very little reported on the sound of the Urika 2 here, on the Linn Forum or any other forum I visit. Does anyone understand why? Usually such a seemingly significant product release generates a lot if comment. Isn’t it selling? My local dealer says they have sold quite a few (my im...

Could you share your conclusions?

That is surprising. The Stockholm retailer had a demo-ex within a week of the anouncement and their first customers receuved theirs about a week after that.
I will need to be patient and keep on looking forward to your eventual review.

Re: New Naim network players
Although this doesn't relate to the Naim announcement, Roon is making some big announcements at the show. The one of most interest to some here is that Roon will now work with Linn DS players. The DS units are not Roon ready but Roon has written some special kind of bridge software allowing Roon to...

AFAIK, his preferred format is 24bit/44.1kHz in contrast to 24/96. Huh! I didn't quite expect that. So high resolution is fine but high sampling rates are not? I'd like to know whether he's reached those preferences on specific equipment or whether he finds it reproducible anywhere. A potential exp...
