Re: Playtime is over, time for some serious questions!

I have been playing vinyl now for a couple of weeks just using my Linto coupled directly to my LK100 into Espeks. The improvement in sound quality is big. I clearly get a more direct feel of what is hidden in the groove. Much higher level of detail and much better micro dynamics. I have now discover...

Re: Performance with Linn sub's

I just want to express my relief. There are still sane people in the hifi industry and Fredrik is one of them. To hold on to this kind of thinking in a world dominated by higher, bigger, stronger is something to celebrate.
A tough job but someone's got to do it!

Re: Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

I think we can all agree on the following: it would not be wise to buy equipment based on a clip on youtube. What youtube on the other hand offers to us is a peek at some of the gear we would never have a chance to listen to that might be worth having a closer look at. If I had the money and was bui...

Re: Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

That is true but I was talking about comparing the LP12 + Lingo2 uploads with the LP12 Radikal uploads made in april 2010.

Re: Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

And while doing the silly things I do, I stumble upon a lump of gold. One of the records Pasinee is playing is the incredible sounding album Fairytales with Radka Toneff. I did not know this record.

If you own a Sondek this record should be in your collection even if it is expensive.

Re: Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

No change! He has very carefully made recordings of the same setup before and after implementing the Radikal.

High Rez file vs LP12 is one upload.

Just listen and make up your own mind!

Re: Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

Just use the words lingo, radikal and linn and it should jump right at you. Find the ones by Pasinee. Then listen to the uploads with the same length to hear the difference between lingo and radikal. Not educated in links! :-(

The other one is called "High Rez file vs LP12".

Re: Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

To me it is funny how (what I never expected to be a problem in the world of hifi) the relation between notes being played often gets obscured on the way to the listener. It can happen in the recording proces and on the way through a hifi system. It has come as quite a surprise to me that it is so e...

Youtube and how to use it to demo different hifi gear

I have for some time used youtube to demo differences between different hifi gear. I stumbled upon a man called "pasinee" who has uploaded many recordings of his changing system and what a system he has. With the Sondek as his main source he has compared Lingo/Radikal and Sondek against Klimax DS (a...

Re: I'm sad and glad!

Finally I got lucky. I found "Jazz på svenska" by Jan Johanson 2013 Heptagon Records AB on vinyl. What a joy to listen to. Then I rediscovered my 1976 CBS vinyl record with Elgar Cello Concerto (Jacqueline du Pré) and Enigma Variations. Once again the music just hit me hard. I can wish for nothing m...

Re: I'm sad and glad!

The value of the conversation is reflected in the way the sand in the hourglass behaves. Right now it has almost come to a halt! :-)

The right words from professor Slughorn are: "The sand runs in accordance with the quality of the conversation. If it is stimulating, the sand runs slowly."

Re: I'm sad and glad!

I know the feeling. A very happy situation indeed.

My Silvers sound great but the differences I mentioned before are still obvious.

Which AT95 should one choose to try out on a Sondek?

Re: I'm sad and glad!

Latest news from the "beck" camp: I have now for some time listened to my Sondek without use of a preamp (my Linto is my preamp). It led me to evaluate the difference between my Linn Black interconnect and my Silver interconnect running from my Linto to my LK100. Both makes music with a lovely flow ...

Re: I'm sad and glad!

What a great post Ron! Thank you for reminding us all about what is important regarding the Sondek. I hear you loud and clear and when my living situation is more stable (in between houses) I will take notice and think my Sondek situation through. Regarding Analog Man I do not own it and was only re...

Re: dwm's system

Most new vinyl is made from a digital master but you can find some that are analog. Even my non analog records I can enjoy with my Sondek but I do wish more vinyl would be made analog from start to finish. My Sondek and my vinyl is the reason I still use a lot of time listening to music at home. Wit...

A very nice main system you have! Less is more is also my take on all things hifi. I just want to enjoy my records as much as possible. I cannot help you about the Slipsik but someone here is an expert on that subject and will respond.

Re: I'm sad and glad!

I have now used the Klyde for a while and it has gone through some minor but important changes. From being a bit restrained and a period with a weak "chest" it now has a free and full bodied sound with lots of refinement. Most importantly it does not get in the way of my enjoyment of the music being...

Re: Playtime is over, time for some serious questions!

My guess is that I am getting the same volume as with my preamp dial at around 11 o'clock and at around 3 o'clock but I am only guessing. I do for the first time now fully appreciate the natural open sound from my Linn Silver cables. Part of the better sound may come from not using a pair of Linn Bl...

Re: Playtime is over, time for some serious questions!

Yes, full volume from the amps point of view and in my system it is controlled and loud. Mind you most of the time I play at "half" volume and it is definately more refined than with my preamp. Timing and tune is the same and very enjoyable. So next question from me is what full volume from the amp ...
