Re: Majik 109 Modification
Just seeing this thread....has anyone else taken this step and can report back? I can't see me changing speakers for quite a while (famous last words) so upgrading what I feel is a truly wonderful speaker is very interesting :) Hi, I have done it on a couple of M109s and I can confirm it is a worth...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I believe in listening without knowing what I am listening to. As soon as somebody tells me what is new/old, or cheap/expensive I feel extremely biased and tend to hear what I want to hear. I also tried to make recordings for you guys, but I don't feel like I succeeded. But I will let you be the ju...

Re: A tracking weight experiment for LP12 owners
Hello,
with my Ekos SE/1 Kandid best tracking is around 1.75g (antiskating a bit less than 1.8) on the Ekos dial, which is around 1.84g measured with the digital scale.
Ciao

Re: Chord Sarum tuned Array
Hi The FlatEarther, I can confirm your impressions, I have a Sarum Tuned Aray and I find it clearly less musical than any Linn Black cable I own. Anywhere I have used it in a Linn system it has made the music much less meaningful, involving and informative. A complete nonsense if you ask me. I since...

Ah ok , now it's all clear...:)
I've been a Naim owner too, for some time many years ago.
Very interesting experiment Efraim!

Re: Need help with a Tune Dem! 'in room recordings'
Hello,
I was chatting with Fredrik some minutes ago while listening to the files. Before I read what Efraim roots has written about what they are these are my findings:
A clearly better, B is more mechanical and harder to follow.
And now I am curious to read how they've been recorded....

Re: Sagatun and Sagatun Mono
Sagatun 1.1 and Sagatun Mono 1.1 are now released! Paolo Nobile of Key Systems in Rome was of essential help with that last detail - the torque. I had been trying pretty high torques, but found that they sounded weird and tense. Paolo insisted I try again, that there was a sharp peak of performance...

Hi, it's almost two weeks now that I have a pair of Sagatun Monos in my demo system and I am really happy to add another testimony of their great performance. Sagatuns sound very coherent, detailed and tuneful, with a strong ability to convey melodies and to communicate in an informative and meaning...
Please elaborate! And did you compare if with another system in the same/other room? I'd rather not. I was just wondering if the Exakt 350 system is very difficult to install, more so than previous top of the line systems? I have heard other systems in the same room, yes. Exakt gives the impression...

Hi, I've been using a new Gaio (n°001) to setup an LP12/Trampo/Hercules/AkitoII/Adikt. I did always used in the past Lejonklou Kinkies (in their various versions) to setup TTs with MM cartridges and really liked them. But the Gaio is simply better. Unforunately I did not have any Kinki to directly c...

I agree with Fredrik on Deoxit. Tried it a number of times in the past on variuos contacts, bananas, RCAs, mains plugs, and it always caused a marked degradation of sound quality. In this case cleaning away the Deoxit residues with isopropil alcol have a good effect. Anyway I would avoid isopropil a...

Hi all, time for some updates. My LSNas has been up and running since several days now and I've some interesting findings to share. First one. Is there any other NAS that has been tested and proven to sound good, but not necessarily is as slow as ReadynasDuo? Did anyone tried newer V2 series of Netgear's NAS? The latest Readynas Pro 4 is a very good soundig NAS, possibly a bit better than Readynas NV+ (I have briefly compared the two but ...

Just up and running with my new LSNAS! At the moment it's still in a very sub-optimal HW configuration: Fractal Array R2 case's PS, A-Data RAM, Kingston SV300 60GB SSD (both for OS and for test music), but it's already CLEARLY better than my optimized Readynas NV+! Clearly more flowing and melodic, ...

Hi all, I've finally collected all the needed items to build the LSNAS and assembled everything in a Fractal Array R2 case bought used. Just a quick question before installing: which SATA configuration have you chosen, IDE (default) or AHCI? I wonder if it can affect the HDDs/SSDs performance so I'd...

The Netgear switches I've compared some months ago are the following: GS105 FS105 GS108 GS108E-100PES GS105E GS108T-200GES The best one has been GS108T-200. I cannot remember the order of the other ones but generally the 8 ports models have been all very good, better than the 5 ports ones. The FS sw...

Tried many different Netgear models (FS and GS-series) and the best has always been the 8 port models. I haven't tested switches the last 3-4 years so it would be interesting if anyone could check again. Back then, GS was the better of them. So please test GS108 vs other alternatives and get back. ...

I guess that the 1600 version is overkill, my Asus manual (e45 deluxe)states that 1333 is maximum. The respective card is a bit cheaper, but in the overall costs this plays a very minor role, of course. Check the Asus board manual for info (download at Asus). But in order to stick to the described ...

The Samsung drive is now old and cheap, so it doesn't cost much to try it. This is the 'X-series', so some call it X-460. It can also be found as P-460 (apparently to point out it's 'Platinum'). Seasonic's program comprises only one 460W retail PSU, so all those are the same. Thanks Klaus for the details about PSU and SSDs. The Platinum version should have a big silver "P...
