Re: LP12 Priorities?

With the caveat that it depends on what Linn come back with, of course, the easiest, least exciting option is just to replace the cartridge, but where is the fun in that? Especially when it's someone else's hard earned... If Entity is cost neutral, and the cartridge has to be replaced anyway, then w...

Re: Klångedang T1 - sensational loudspeakers!

Substitute A2200 for Tundra Stereo... Add a Sagatun (or 2 ;) between the ADSM and the power amp and enjoy the T1s even more :)

Re: Small top quality floorstanders

The Spendor's do seem to tick all the boxes. I'll have to take a listening test. I'd be interested to know what you think of them if you get to audition, especially with your Monos... Spendor dealers are few & far between over here, particularly Spendor - Lejonklou, so I never got to hear the D7s e...

Re: Small top quality floorstanders

I liked the Spendor D7 when I heard it with Linn electronics. They should sound even better with your Monos, and maybe a bargain out there to be had now that Spendor has released the D7.2... Right on your size requirements, too, at 980 x 192 x 333mm.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

.. for more chances to hear the polarity change for the NAS... Order was kept the same. So people who liked the polarity on the first check in clip #1 better should like the same polarity in the second test again with clip #1 Haha, and you were leaning the other way this time... Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Hi Charlie1, Defender has posted three pairs of clips: the first was NAS polarity; repeated, kindly, in the third; the second was Netgear vs Cisco switches. We don't know yet whether the NAS polarity in the third post matches the order of the first...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Hi all, ... its about Polarity Check on the NAS drive. Hi, and thanks for the clips. I hear what people say about clip 1 moving the music along, but the band feels more together to me, and tighter musically on clip 2, which I prefer. I'd be interested in more clips of the same change to gauge bette...

Re: Debian 9 Stretch

.. I now have MPD 21.13 running on Stretch, without a kernel update :) It's a very significant improvement on 19.21. Caffeine supplies for musicians seem to have been restored, and pianos sound a bit more like pianos. But thank you for your quick response! Now, if I could work out how to get 21.11,...

Re: Debian 9 Stretch

Thought you posted that you needed a kernel update... :? If so, was that for 21.5 or 21.13? Sounds like you need to run 'sudo apt-get upgrade'... If you want to see what it'll do, before accepting, type the following: sudo apt-get -s upgrade That will show you what will be upgraded... If you're ok w...

Re: Debian 9 Stretch

No need to go to buster - you can select from versions of mpd in repositories other than stretch by amending your sources file. 0.21.5 is available from buster. 0.21.13 is available from sid. Either of those versions can be installed on stretch by adding one of the following, respectively, to your /...

Re: Debian 9 Stretch

If you have Asset on your LSNAS, then your Hakai is not connecting directly to the music files on your NAS, and you don't need Samba. The media (music) server and mpd communicate via http, controlled by your chosen control point (& upmpdcli) - see here for a visual...

Re: Debian 9 Stretch

I want to say those instructions are only relevant if you compile MPD from source... You can install MPD from the Debian Sid repository, which should sidestep the need for these config settings except, possibly, the alsa hw number for your DAC. Hope you enjoy(ed) the walk on the beach, and that you ...

Re: Testing MC step up transformers

Any potential to transform the power supplies in Sagatun or Tundra arising from your MC SUT tests? I'm not sure what you mean by this. The SUTs have nothing to do with power supplies. The principles and technologies involved are so vastly different that it's a fun exercise to try to find what they ...
