Re: The Linn forum is officially dead

I too am very disappointed that the Linn forum has been closed down but in retrospect I am not at all surprised. When I had an all Naim (well mostly) system I was always aware that Linn didn't support their old customers to the same extent that Naim did with repairs. This told me that they didn't r...

active 140's driven by MDS-I and M6100

Hi Fredrik, My question would be, is there any way to connect my fully aktiv M140's to one of your pre-amps including my TV? To be clear I really like my setup but I'm looking further. At the moment I'm running my system as the following: Mds-I, M6100, M140's - of course I would have to add a M2100 ...

Majik 4100 Problem

After a long time and to let have the new amp its break-in, I also owned a new pair of 140's in Walnut just to match the rest of my furniture... I've done the disconnection of the ground loop wire and indeed it does something quite positive sound-wise, I bought the recommended Micro-connect LAN cabl...

2db

Hi Rudi, Very easy to do without any damage on the speakers veneer, using a plastic card like a credit card preferably an old one you are not using any more... Go with one edge of the card between the cabinet and the rubber surrounding of the metal grills on the upper side and move a little around a...

Majik 140s internal link to cut base by 2db

Hi Rudi, As Fredrik stated these are indeed two different things, the bungs are just applicable where space does not allow any appropriate placement, whereas the 2db cut would just make the overall musical picture more sophisticated if this would give a good description. There are other things one c...

Majik DS-I enhancement

A very good and easy to do option to improve performance, to my ears a very fine enhancement, could be made on a Majik DS-I. If one removes the casing there is on the Dynamik PSU the mains wire coming from the On/Off switch and ending on the board while crossing a copper coil, this mains wire appear...

Majik 140s internal link to cut base by 2db

I also tightened all the screws inside the MDS-I with a torque setting of 0,3Nm on the audio board (one would have to remove the Dynamik compartment completely) and 0,4Nm on the Dynamik board, it really makes a difference, just playing music...

Majik 4100 Problem

Just a short update... The amp went to my retailer for an inspection and indeed some contacts on the Dynamik board needed a resoldering, as I got it back it did not sound any better, today I talked to him again on the phone and he will send me a brand new M4100 in exchange. Now this is what I would ...

Majik 140s internal link to cut base by 2db

Charlie1, Many thanks for sharing your experience here, in the meantime I contacted Linn again and they said the following: The Majik 140 Loudspeakers drive units do not have a torque setting. We use an electric driver set to a certain setting. I would suggest tightening the drive units hand tight a...

Majik 140 2db bass cut

Charlie1,

BTW: Do you have the correct Torque settings for the 140´s, as I may consider at a later stage to get a fine torque driver for a better result.

Cheers

Majik 140 2db bass cut

The tundem I did, having the speakers about 32cm from the back wall with a toe-in of 0,5cm. I also tightened the drivers as they seemed to be somewhat loose at finger feeling, given that I usually screw on watches, so very carefully as I did with my previous Ninkas. Well I got a foto, but shame on m...

Majik 140 2db bass cut

In the meantime I've contacted Linn Helpline about this issue... Linn said the following: It should be noted that carrying out this modification has invalidated your warranty. You should have two pieces of foam to put in place, the first wraps vertically around the cables on the left hand side and t...

I also see the need to reduce the bass on my 140's having the upgrade bases already installed, but as Charlie1 said there is a lot of wool when you open it. This I know from some modification on my Ninka's can have a major impact on sound if it isn't correctly in place. Is there maybe anyone who kno...

With A to B I meant, my amp to one untouched in original condition. I also did completely remove the grounding cable, but this as well sounded like something is missing, just not right. I've noticed the main power wire coming from the PSU-board leading into the on/off switch is crucial, or rather it...
