Re: Kikkin into Mdsm/3
Unclear how you want to bypass the preamp section Just use the dsm as streamer feeding the preamp kikkin and kikking going to a power amp? Yes , exactly. And in doing so, i hope i can enjoy the inputs of the Dsm No, problem! Set preout to fixed and connect to whatever preamp you want. You can use M...

Re: Absolute Bargains!
After 30 years of looking for a decent pair of headphones, I finally settled on the Grado 125’s. For only about £/€150, they’ve been an excellent musical purchase. However, the later iPads and phones don’t have a wired headphone output so my Grado 125’s have become somewhat redundant. I’ve been ext...

..... Also, when you say latest Ittok's, are you counting the LVIII/2 that was built in Scotland? I suspect that one could be better than all Akito's. This is many years ago (-93 or so?) I had an Ittok LVII and nearly bought a new LVIII/2. In fact I would have if a used Ekos1 didn’t have turned up....

Re: Linking M6100 Amplifier
Hello, Thanks for your reply. Are you saying that I can't use the M6100 passively? My plan was to use the six channels in the M6100 passively until sometime in the new year when I would either get suitable Aktiv cards, or maybe even look to go Exakt. Regards, Steve Yes, you can tri-amp a passive th...

Re: Dylan - Nobel prize 2016 !
Now it's more than two weeks and still not a word from Dylan. All the cultural writers and personalities in Sweden rants about it. I believe the prize is 8 MSEK. He turns that down and keep on touring? This is very interesting.

I have no problems with the DS to my ears it is superb My own gut feeling is to upgrade the LP12 with a Keel, and maybe upgrade my phono stage from (Kinki) to Slipsik C...

Surely, there is now a market for "lightning to 3.5mm adapter" of better quality than what Apple provides. If you have phones that you like I would stick to that and wait and see what comes up.

Re: What Ethernet cable is recommended?
I bought 3m cat6 microconnect from Dustin 2-3 years ago. Turned out that they were no better than the cat6 I was using. Tried Supra cat7 and they are the best I have. It's frustrating, you don't know what's good until you tried.

+1 thanks for the tip. I am a bit reluctant to change the screws myself though as I quite recently had Kore installed and everything is newly setup by the dealer. Right, I can visit him again. We'll see.JSL wrote:Thank you Beck for a good tip

Re: My new system
JSL's screws looks like the same as on my Klyde. I use the screws that came with it (bought s/h quite recently). I also have a 20yo Klyde in a drawer, the screws in that box are the very same length. Conclusion: this is the length that Linn supplied with the cartridge.

........ I bought the rack from a now defunct Linn dealer in the north of Sweden (Umeå) in the beginning of the 90's - the problem is that I have totally forgotten the name of the manufacturer! Re: In Praise of the Pre-amp (Kinos with Unidisk SC)
Glad to be of help, David. Yes, 2.1s and 1.1s can be found at tempting prices but they are cheap for a reason. Unidisks are about the most complex products ever from Linn, unreliable according to reputation and repair is expensive.

Re: In Praise of the Pre-amp (Kinos with Unidisk SC)
Hi all Firstly my apologies for resurrecting this thread but I need some advice. I've used my USC just as described in the thread - disabling the USC preamp by using 'TV out' for some time now and going into a 2-channel input on the Kinos. However, since the acquisition of a Klimax DS/1 Renew my onl...
Re: Slipsik 6
Tried to look up what exactly was involved in the Kore demo I attended. (swedish text) http://tonlaget.se/aftonhistorik.html It was one deck with Kore and an outboard Valhalla vs standard Cirkus chassie with Lingo 3. Project arms and Adikt on both. So, the new Majik chassie was not involved here. As...
Re: Slipsik 6
I've been to a Kore demo. Two Majik decks, one with Kore and the other with the latest Lingo. The Kore deck was clearly better. For me it's a nobrainer that you get Kore before a better phonostage. That Slipsik 6 is better than 5.1 and Gaio is of course also a nobrainer, it wouldn't be released if i...

Re: Balanced or standard interconnects?
I think Oppo deliberately made the XLR output stage better. hi stefan - would you qualify that statement a bit more, please. Thanks Or, if anyone else knows more about this... This pretty much says so Each unbalanced (RCA) channel is driven with a LM4562 opamp. The balanced (XLR) outputs use a full...

... I use the best balanced pair from my DS to KK, and the best single-ended pair feeding the signal to Mono2s. The second best single-ended pair is used between my Oppo105 to KK. A bit surprising, I prefer balanced from Oppo105 to KK. I think Oppo deliberately made the XLR output stage better. I s...

Re: DS firmware - what is the lastest on the most musical one?
no doubt a DS/2 with 35 is significantly better than a DS/1 with 4.1.10 Are you sure? I'd like to hear just that comparison but have not yet had the opportunity. There certainly are differences between FW versions but I heard nothing in the magnitude of the differences from /0 to /1 or (at least as...
