It is a very good dac, yes When I was testing HAKAI, I also tested this dac with music clips recordings Akurate DSM coupled with the RME Adi 2 was more musical then using the internal dac of the Linn Thanks for that info! Always interesting to know of decent alternatives! And sorry for veering slig...

Re: Pre-amplifiers/streamers for my newly acquired Tundra 2.2 Tarandus.

I settled for a Linn Majik DS (first generation)as source (because it works so easy) and RME Adi 2 dac Due to the RME Adi 2 dac, I haven’t been interested in other sources… So.. you're saying the RME is good? It ended up on my shortlist when I was investigating one-box replacements for my current W...

Re: It really ties the room together

The JBLs just aren't happening for me. Maybe it's because that clip is lower in volume (it is, right? or am I imagining that?) or maybe it's my failing hearing, but with the Zu's I feel the voice harmonizes with the band. With the JBLs the voice sort of replaces the band, as if the amp/speaker combo...

One advantage of fixed IP addresses from this source:

I think this falls under "don't believe everything you read on the internet" - and nothing off of that page. It's pretty much all bullshit.

I would love if someone could explain exactly what this means.

If the Apple device uses Airplay to talk to Källa, in what way does Källa not use Airplay?

Re: General Discussion about Källa

No. The protocol Källa uses bypasses all sound processing on the client device. That's a strange way of putting it. As I understand it, in Airplay, audio data is sent separate from the information of intended volume. I assume either Källa simply doesn't obey the set volume, or it can signal that it...

With a small caveat that a bad cold is messing with my hearing at the moment, I prefer 3 by a mile. Particularly with the prog track, the bass comes off very monotonic to me in 1 - it just sounds "BOING", where with 3 I feel I know what the next bass note will be. 1's slight lack of focus fits the m...

I cannot tell them apart. First I thought I had a preference for 2, but I don't trust myself to not be influenced by the votes, so I didn't post anything. Then I redid it blindly 30 minutes later.. and nothing happens. I have no significant first impression, and the more I play the clips, the less I...

Today they publish technical nonsense when trying to convince us what is better. Technical white papers like this from Linn are hardly common (I'm only aware of this one, Chakra, and probably one about Exakt. Are there more? Chakra must be fifteen years ago by now..), nor are they exactly pushing t...

Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

Different speaker designs have this problem(*) to a different degree. Some try to combat it by physically shifting the elements (see for example PMC's designs that "lean backwards"), but from what I've read the problem is fundamentally unavoidable in an analog design. This is not why speaker design...

Higher frequencies travels faster. Wikipedia suggests you are sort of technically correct, but seem to be exaggerating the effect: The dependence on frequency and pressure are normally insignificant in practical applications. In dry air, the speed of sound increases by about 0.1 m/s as the frequenc...

I am assuming that my KDS And sneakys work in a similar fashion to Kalla with the control point . No, the Linn DS typically works in the UPnP/Spotify Connect way that springwood64 explained above, where the control point just tells the DS what resource to play, and the DS downloads it. After giving...
