Re: The death of K400
I like it too. Makes it clear at one glance that it's the correct length/solder/temp.

I fixed the last two posts and deleted a redundant post.

Re: Coaxial Cable Recommendations
I would avoid all Supra cables. I have tried different Supra cables, speakers, coaxial, RCA since they are available in most Swedish stores. But they affect music in a bad hifi way. QED budget priced coaxial is quite good. That is what I use now that the "New Level of Perfromance Audio" coaxial cab...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
I’m not suggesting that the Boazu shouldn’t have any buttons. The idea is that they could be placed out of sight, like many modern TV’s. They could be placed in the top corner of the back plate so that they could be easily found by touch. Or on the side panels close to the front. Out of sight but s...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I struggled a bit between A and B, but ultimately I preferred B, the reason b-ing I never really liked this song, yet with B I kinda forgot that and kept listening longer than was necessary. It's possible this could have happened with A had I listened in a different order, so close are the two. C's ...

Re: Setting up loudspeakers for the best tune
Yes thats 30 cm With your existing configuration of the Solidsteel tripods it doesn't seem possible to place the speakers closer to the wall. You have to turn the stands by 180 degrees to achieve that. OTOH, the speakers have a port on the back which might not be perfect for a set-up in close proxi...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Listening through the AirPods Max, it seems like the music gets progressively "tense" as the temp goes up (assuming the temps increase with each successive clip). The music starts to get a bit too tense in the 3rd clip, but the 2nd is perhaps a bit too relaxed. Any way to get between the two? I'm su...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I lean toward the Kans as well, but perhaps that's because I'm surprised at how much I liked them in these clips. I enjoyed both a lot...these clips are possibly the best showing I've heard from both speakers.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I finally managed to get the clips to play reliably. This time I experimented a bit. Rather than listening through headphones at a reasonable volume I played the clips through my laptop's internal speakers at a relatively low volume, just above ambient noise, to see if I could detect a difference. S...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Anyone else had issues playing Fredrik's latest batch of clips? I've been trying to listen to them since he posted them and only now was able to get them to play. I've been avoiding reading others' responses until I could hear the clips myself, which kinda goes against my moderator duty to monitor e...

Re: What’s Slam Got To Do With It?
I think you're right, Spannko. The Zu Audio Dirty Weekends could slam with the best of 'em, the 308Ps can't. The JBLs are considerably more musical and ultimately more enjoyable, but I do miss the dynamics and slam of the Omens*. There are a lot of loudspeakers out there that slam well but are quite...

253 exaggerates the separation between instruments.
252 sounds more organic, congruous.
I'll take 252.

Re: Spotify settings for best musical performance
It's been a while since I went through my Spotify settings to make sure they were still set properly. There's a new feature that's appeared since the last time I checked (so I don't know how long it's been there) called Picture in Picture. It's located under the Playback menu toward the top. Some qu...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
What if the first, or first few posts by a new member had to be approved by a moderator before going live on the forum? It'll of course be clearly communicated to everyone signing up for a new account how it's working. That alone should hopefully stop most people with bad intentions from even tryin...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
Thanks, Pete! To clarify, I'm not talking about blocking users' ability to view a topic, just limiting the ability to post/edit a topic for the specific goal of preventing necroposting by new users. I like your suggestion of keeping things simple! My concern is that redundant threads could clutter ...

Re: Forum issues are discussed here
On another thread Matthias suggested locking posts after a certain period of inactivity and only allowing existing users the ability to unlock and post/edit. It turns out that may actually be possible. If it is, I have a few questions for the members: 1) What do you think would be an appropriate pe...

Re: HiFi fuses
It seems we had in this thread another case of necroposting by a new account. My suggestion would be that old threads get locked after a certain time and only existing members can unlock an old thread. That's an interesting suggestion, Matt! I don't think phpBB has the ability to allow that level o...

Re: Majik 109 Modification
How does it sound - well, first impressions was very favourable - more detail, a more open sound. I let it play on moderate volume for some hours before I listened more focused. It has been described that the sound became a bit bright when you changed it in the 109s - and I would say that it does t...
