Re: Streaming service

Despite me starting the thread, it has moved on over time, but I've just come back to have a quick look at it. I'm surprised that people say they like the offering from Spotify. I am coming to the end of a Spotify Premium trial, and find the sound quality to be quite mediocre compared with my own m...

Re: Like button

I also dislike ”Like-buttons”. On many forums they quickly turn into back-pounding among people with similar equipment, views, opinion etc and thereby risk creating polarisation or limiting the discussions in cases when one view gets loads of likes while a minority view does not. So I am in favour o...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

lets see but thats already the wrong focus (Charles Sprinkle wanted to design the Kali's to measure better than the 308P) maybe he was lucky and created a better speaker even though he had the wrong focus. Unless he suddenly developed an interest in messuring, I am guessing he probably also measure...

Re: General Discussion about Källa

So if you have launched a breakththrough product with a huge number of potential customers and play your cards right, it will not show in very significant increase sales numbers..? Extreme nisch product then... or it is just a few hundred of the millions of people that do streming that both apprecia...

Sorry but cannot look upon it as a breakthrough then.

We are not talking mainstream consumer product sales volume but huge sales in relation to all previous Lejonklou products.

Taking these points into account and what people who were able to listen to Källa reported: >>>Källa is in my view a breakthrough. Matt Exciting times ahead! The final verdict whether it is a true breakthrough should not be that far away (less than a year at least) via the sales figures! A true bre...

Please not that my comment was not at all referring to Källa itself, which I truly hope is excellent but to comparisons to older products that seem to follow a pattern regardless of streamer or forum.

Re: General Discussion about Källa

Of course, user friendliness is an important aspect (not having heard that many complaining except perhaps those having never built a PC back in the days. But I would guess those not knowing someone who has should be even fewer.) Haven’t followed the Hakai section lately but severe sound degradation...

Re: General Discussion about Källa

It’s rather fascinating how judgements of equipment rapidly changes as soon as something new is released. Whether it’s KDS v0, v1, 2, Katalyst or Organik, Hakai or now Källa. Admittedly the below statement was made back in 2018, but also then there were some rather good, expensive streamers (and mai...

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

I have a feeling, that your 242's haven't shown everything they can do yet. At a friend's it really only came together with LP12/Karousel/Klimax Radikal/Ekos SE/1 and Kandid. If that was the case, my conclusion would be that the 242 is not at all a good speaker. (All depending on what lies in ”came...

Re: Four years in the making

yes Cortina what you say is true ... for other brands and products but for the first movers (early adopters) here I think the considered alternatives are limited. So all what you say is true and thats the approach of 99.9% of other businesses especially being happy with the 80% rule for product fea...

In general it can be months or

Re: Four years in the making

Why not? Depends on how long they have considered buying something else before they heard about Källa. Not everybody is absolutely sure about buying a 6 000 € streamer unheard and may have/run into other expenses. And potentielly a significant other that may long for something else.

Re: Four years in the making

True indeed.
Plus, stopping at a healthy level both brings the product to the market in time possibly avoiding potential customers buying other products (whether hi-fi or spending on other priorities) and as a side-effect makes a future version 2.0 somewhat better (relatively).

Ripping blu-rays

Perhaps this has been discussed before (But did not find so much after a quick search).

What do you use to rip your blu-rays and (if different software) extract their audio?

Hopefully the German EU proposal will be a reality; that cell phone suppliers will be forced to provide software updates and spare parts for at least 7 years.

Re: JBL 308P and 708P

Without a "for the money" condition. I am not using a subwoofer, it is not really needed with the 708P since they go deep with a fair amount of power. It shakes my couch which the 308 didn't. The wall behind my speakers is not that wide, so I have no space for an optimal subwoofer placement and tha...

Does Le JBL count 🙂

It’s rather amazing how Sara and Kan stands keep standing the test of time and they often come in handy depending on speaker base area and height.

If you find a good pair and install them properly, I bet you will not get better musical performance from any Linn speaker. Is that with or without a ”for the money” condition? Without, that must be the rejection of the century of Linn speakers as it would/could include any power amp(s) and Linn sp...

Still running LP12 and 3677s .

Cannot see a problem combining. If a product not developed using tune-dem sounds better than a similarly or higher priced product that was, when evaluated using tune-dem, then why not choose the better product??

Still, Linn’s present customers (at least the minority on the wigwam forum) seem to feel Space Optimization is god’s gift to hi-fi so it is a hard sell to those people who feel SO is better than attention to installation etc.

Sounds promising to say the least and in line with the atmosphere of the launch event invitation e-mail.
Strangely, this was not the feeling I got from the event itself where they spoke more about a lower noise floor.
