Re: Linn Klimax Twin or Solos

Is it odd that an Akurate amp isn't very good at driving Akurate 242 speakers? I found them plodding, uninvolving, dull and soulless. Some folks don't but, and this is the big but, I didn't think that until I compared the two at home. A tundra really makes a good job of playing lovely music, and I k...

Totem tribe towers? Small, unobtrusive and high WAF. Would be great with tundra/monos.

Re: Linn Klimax Twin or Solos

As someone who’s tried akurate and lejonklou amps with ninkas, and lejonklou amps with 109s, dynaudio audience 42s and various totems I’d implore you to at least try a tundra stereo.it IS far more enjoyable and entertaining than a twin and for most people the extra power of the twin will not equate ...

Re: Lejonklou Demo in nyc

Thanks for hooking them up with a demo Thomas. It's a bit of a shame they didn't decide to buy it, I told them to play some familiar albums and just enjoy the music. Only when it's no longer there will they miss it. Probably. They've tried quite a few amps, sim audio, hegel etc and said the Lejonklo...

Some guys I've met via avforums.com and Facebook have just got a boazu to try after demming numerous other amps from various manufacturers. Fingers crossed that it hits the sweetspot for them.

Re: Next Upgrade

I second what flatcoat said. You could buy a new tundra stereo 2.5 or even look for a second hand 2.2, which has Tarandus upgrade but not the trim port of the 2.5. Whilst not quite as good as the newer version it's still a bloody good amplifier and considerably cheaper if you're on a budget. I had o...

Re: Donuk's system

Don's tundra isn't tarrandus and I have offered to lend him mine. Mine is a 2.2
A 2.5 would be a very interesting test however and I personally would just stick with one amp. I still prefer the stereo too.

Re: Playlist

Hi all. I've just been recommended to listen to the group 'public service broadcasting'. I'm really glad I have as the music is fantastic, with samples of spoken word from what I presume were public announcements/fictional speak, layered with guitars and kraftwerk and Jarre -esque keyboards. Just Sp...

I wouldn't bother going akurate active. Saves money and get better performance by buying a Lejonklou tundra, you'll be able to get a decent second hand one or new for much less than what you're planning on spending.

Re: Possibly time to move on from Akurate 242's but to what?

If you have a lot of glass and henceforth a fairly live sounding room then I totally understand why you're thinking of changing the speakers. For what it's worth the famed DJ, musician and record producer Mark Ronson has just purchased a pair of totem acoustic tribe tower loudspeakers. He was so imp...

Brief recommendation for totem acoustic tribe tower loudspeakers. £4999--£5999 depending on the finish and they dig really deep, are easy to position, look great, have a small footprint and would meet your requirements imo.

They were actually quite neat and petite; they do look a lot larger - then I remember them being - in that photograph (probably the low equipment rack is what's mostly confusing the perspective).

If you want to consider very slim and compact floorstanding speakers then please try to get look and listen at the totem acoustic tribe tower loudspeakers. You'd also be surprised just how much more enjoyable a two channel passive system with a good amplifier can be compared to the set up you curren...

I used to run active and passive ninkas. [...] My system improved and became more enjoyable and musical as I exchanged the linn pieces for Fred's stuff, I was so impressed. It was fun and I never expected these unassuming little boxes knocked up in Sweden by one bloke (more or less) to destroy the ...

I used to run active and passive ninkas. Active with 2x lk140 and an lk85 on the treble. I had a kairn pre and a genki cd player. One of my most noticeable upgrades was changing the genki to a majik ds and next swapping out the kairn for an Exotik, source first but as good as it was years ago, the ...

I also am interested in this. Kind of.
I have the new version of the crimson idol by WASP and there's a bluray with the album songs on it with a video. I wondered if there was any way to rip these because they should be higher quality than the cd files.

Which truly baffles me that some people still prefer akurate power over tundra. I appreciate that people are all different and have different ears etc but they're poles apart especially now after numerous improvements.

Cheaper but possibly not in the same league for sound quality but could be a better match. Its a shame you can't try both.
