Of course, but if this turns out to be real maybe Linn could offer a modification to existing Keels as they did for fitting dynamiks to early Klimax twins.

Maybe Linn have something up their own sleeve requiring a different arm collar?

That would have been so cool!

Re: 50th Anniversary LP12

The main problem is that Dieter Rams didn’t design anything which looked anything remotely like an LP12, so there was nothing for Jonny Ive to draw inspiration from. Maybe some resemblance? https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q70/922/VCxJm5.jpg I agree that the LP12-50 has some nice touches a...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

Blind testing procedure is a necessity as a means to eliminate expectation bias, if you are interested in making any scientific claims with your investigations. It has certain limitations and challenges as already mentioned. And it is primarily useful to rank better from worse, rather than determine...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

Thanks! Yes, it is a fascinating read on why we like music. And the Floyd Tooles book is like the "standard introduction" if you're into understanding the challenges for sound reproduction through loudspeakers in a room.

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

It's sad fo folks like us in the audio community that Samsung stopped these audio engineers from publishing their findings. These cats sho wrote volumes of papers & books we all benefit from. Floyd E. Toole and his teammates from JBL/Harman has written a highly recommended book on sound reproductio...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?

Seas drivers are good. But they wouldn't be my personal choice. With markiteight having already mentioned one very valid reason why: the lack of woofer size. Two 10" Seas L26 will pump more air than a state of the art 15" woofer. Capacity is a combination of size and excursion capability. Yes, you ...

Yes, Linn seems to use drive units on the more expensive side of the market for their 360's. Gonna be exiting to hear what they make of them.

Re: Broken Sneaky DS

Yes, it is most likely one dried out capacitor in the PSU. Very common fault on these and other Linn switch mode supplies. Easy fix by a competent dealer, so you don't have to pay full fixed service price by having the unit returned to Linn.

Re: Linn 50th Anniversary

I'm not sure there are any - certainly nothing leaked out onto forums. Pretty sure we can guess there will be more to come from Linn this year. Seems strange to me otherwise, to ship dealers from all over the world to Glasgow ONLY to present the 360?? Strict NDA though, and maybe the 360 release is...

Re: New Linn Launch 2022

I say it looks like they are reusing the video from the original Organik launch, only with the added punchline. The module fits in the NGKDSM. To me it’s more likely original KDSM and the Akurate range of product will receive upgrades prior to Selekt.

Unique opportunity to get your hands on a first class network streamer, with full possiblity to upgrade with Organik for less than one third of what Linn charges for their new NGKDS. The hardware in Källa can handle up to 192 kHz, but Protokoll is limited to and optimised for 44.1 kHz. Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

How many digital conversions are you down to using airplay in Källa? And how does sourcing files from NAS instead of streaming from a control point add digital complexity to the system? I’m at loss here. Sorry for OT, final paragraph should maybe be moved to another section. I find this a difficult...

You asked me where I think source first is in a digital replay chain. I replied. And your answer is a sloppy attempt at an insult? No intention to insult. You must have misread my response, or I expressed myself in a sloppy way. I usually start off with a simple clear idea. Then I wish to improve o...

Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

The source in a digital replay system is where the data starts moving. Adding a clock to the static data is where everything begins. Then every time you reclock (for instance when oversampling) that moving signal, you add a signature that will be heard after the conversion to analogue. The more man...

Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

A lot of members on this forum have plenty of experience with digital reproduction. Phrases like "lossless" and "The DAC is the source" is where most of us began. That the DAC is actually last and least important in the digital chain is something one arrives at after practical experiments. It is re...
