Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

I am just wondering why the new KDSM does sound so good. When the signal in respect to the KDSM goes like this Spotify/Qobuz > Streaming board > Organik DAC then from a Source First POV the Organik DAC has only the third rank, comparable to a cartridge in a vinyl system. So what is the mystery of t...

Re: Linn Klimax Kontrol: are the balanced/unbalanced outputs independent?

Yes, they are independently buffered according to the circuit diagram I have studied.

Re: Is this possible and safe?

Just a clarification on previous post (if that isn't already obvious for evereybody), You need to connect from the output of your Klimax Kontrol to an input on your Majik/Headphone amplifier. The KK has two outputs, unbalanced and balanced, so one of these should be ok. You can also connect your Maj...

Re: New Linn Forum

Rest be sure...you always have unhappy customers. You either invite them and listen to them, to be able to address the niggles fast - or you going to loose them. So very true in my book too. Some of my best stories on this is how I have heard Harley Davidson work together with their customer base. ...

Just a clarifying note to my previous posting. The U2/U1 comparison was made using KEDSM and Katalysed Klimax 350s.

Re: New LP12 Urika II phonostage and Lingo 4

For us it has a somewhat limited customer appeal as you would pretty much need a pretty fully loaded LP12 to use it along with a Klimax DS with Katalyst (or new Akurate DS with Katalyst) for it to make sense. I completely agree with that comment and believe this might be one reason for the seemingl...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem

Has anyone really verified that this is an issue - both that the dome actually does touch the the trampolin when loaded as well as that this does affect the sound in a negative way? Or is this conclusion just made on an ocular assumption? The outer rim on the foot provides some clearance to the tram...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem

Putting the foot below the baseboard is not a good solution, which is obvious if one investigates it more closely. I have not tried different woods for my spacing strips yet, it's just too good as it is. Just curious, how can one be sure putting the foot below the baseboard is not a good solution? ...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem

Yes, I understand the issue. As far as I could examine briefly and according to the retailer it works. They seemed happy with the result when they tried. It's an easy modification so it could be worth to try out as an option to solve the original clearance issue. Comparing with spacer alternatives. ...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem

> remount them on the underside of the baseboard Not a good idea unless you considerably enlarge the diameter of the foot cutout in the base plate. As far as I could see on a Urika II baseboard, the modification was easy. The trampolin feet are by default mounted with screws on the inside of the ba...

Re: LP12 Radikal problem

Just measured my CH fluted ebony plinth - 66 mm, plus a few tenth as I try to measure in different spots. Also talked with the Swedish retailer High Fidelity tonight, and they actually suggested to dismount the trampolin feet and remount them on the underside of the baseboard. Gives enough clearance...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer

I have not seen any update on the streamer from Fredrik, since his post on page four. Apparently the project is paused due to too many variables out of Fredik’s own control in his quest for excellence. Specifically from software outside the audio pipeline. But I sure hope Fredrik and others are thin...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer

If those numbers that quantify the limits of human hearing actually said anything about our field of interest - how to maximise the enjoyment of recorded music - vinyl would be terrible. So terrible that even really bad CD players would walk all over every turntable ever made. As that is not the ca...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer

20 bit resolution in theory gives you 120 dB dynamic resolution, which is the range from absolute silence to the threshold of pain and immediate hearing impairment. This is also the limit of human hearing. Under normal conditions this would not be possible to experience, due to background noise and ...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer

I recently picked up an original US copy of a Jazz Album that was recorded back in 1959 (Cannonball Adderly on Riverside RLP 1148). Music and sound of this album is truly very impressive and I guess they had very poor equipment compared to todays standards. One of the factors for the musically supe...

Professionals make money with their gear and have what they think is the best. I am sure the PM ADC that BL uses is better at 44.1 than some others at 96. Reading professional forums like gearslutz they have their own ranking for gear like audiophiles too. To me someone prefering the sound of a dev...

Fredrik I find locally ripped CDs and purchased downloads on my NAS consistently sound better than what I get from Tidal Hifi (I don't do their MQA on principle!).
