Re: Karousel

I'm enjoying mine immensely! Just yesterday I was playing Julia Holter's "Have You In My Wilderness". It was the first time since Karousel and the first song "Feel You" is easily accessible, then it gets more difficult. But yesterday I found myself grooving to ALL the songs on the record. The Karous...

Re: Amp and other upgrade options...

I went from bi-amp active with 5125 on my Ninkas to tri-amp active with a C6100 without Dynamik. It was vastly better, like a new speaker. However, no doubt, passive with Solos would be even better (but also more expensive). I cannot comment on how the Tundra 2.2 would be.

This entered: https://shop.abbeyroad.com/Vinyl/*/Catch-A-Fire-Limited-Edition-Half-Speed-Master/6QDL00001RC . A disappointment, somewhat dull... not as enjoyable as the scratchy used item I already had. Seems like I never learn not to look for remastered, or "special" issues. The originals go for s...

Old thread, new query. Im interested in any thoughts on value hifi racks that wont break the bank. Those described here sound great but way out of my league, in money and my setup. At present Ive a very basic Ikea TV table set up which is cheap but very cheerful ro my ears. Also, having had to move...

Re: LINN Classik K - CD Engine & DAC Quality

If you are willing to spend a bit more, go for the Linn Akurate CD player, I found one for € 1.475,- or maybe a Unidisk 2.1 (or 1.1 if you can afford it).

Re: Linn Launch Event

For those of us at Akurate spending levels, this statement on the Linn website may be of concern: "Next-generation Klimax DSM completes the Linn DSM family line-up of Klimax DSM, Selekt DSM and Majik DSM" Yes, I am sure they will ditch the Akurate line. Matt This will make the transition to Lejonkl...

Re: LINN Classik K - CD Engine & DAC Quality

I went from Ikemi to Unidisk 1.1 to Akurate DS and each step was clearly better than before. Good VFM are also the Classik Music 08, which usually go for very little money.

Israel Nash's new one, this time with soul influences, very, very good

Dr. John's legendary album finally as a US original, sounds much better than my 1986 US reissue.

Re: LINN Classik K - CD Engine & DAC Quality

Yes, the Classik was an amazing piece of kit, add a couple of Katan speakers and you had a very competent system. There's a digital output, so you could connect an external DAC. But the internal DAC is alrerady pretty good...

Re: Linn LP12 Upgrade Questions

Do you know what torque values were used on the Karousel in the demo? I'm very happy about my upgrade to Karousel, especially since using the torque values recommended by Thomas OK.
If that's not for you, you should be saving up for a Radikal or at least a Lingo 4.

Re: Akurate DSM mc versus Linto?

I can verify this, made the change from ADSM internal to Linto a few years ago. The Linto is clearly better.
If you want a big step up, go for a Lejonklou Entity or the Linn Urika 1 (if you have a Radikal). The Urika 1 is miles ahead of the Linto...

Even with only my basic knowledge of Norwegian, I can understand the lyrics much better on "point" (spikes). I would keep them.

Re: Linn LP12 Mat

Mat 1 was the Spec+ mat. To me, in my living room, the improvement is pretty big over the felt mat. The clarity of the music shines through with less muddle in the middle. So here's test 2 - now I'm testing the 2 sides of the felt mat as has been requested here. The recording process, equipment and...

Maybe a pair of Fyne F700? Or if you want a design object the Franco Serblin Lignea. Have you ever heard the Lignea? I heard the Ktema and Accordo at a show and thought they were quite good but never got the opportunity to hear them with equipment and in a room I was familiar with. Sadly no, I only...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Not sure what this means for the future of this power strip - maybe Naim has enough in stock maybe they have sourced it from different suppliers in the past anyway but that also means variation is possible. Yes, that's it I think, since I have two different cables leading to the distributor block. ...
