Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

It's interesting to see, that you are all as divided as I am. The second clip is with a Furman AC-210A Power Conditioner between the the wall socket and the power bar for the Qnap, router and switches.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Another experiment, here we go! Can't seem to get the sound quality in the videos to resemble the one in the room though :-( And it's a very tricky song. Which one do you prefer? https://www.dropbox.com/s/bzh3poo9y35sdpq/Video%2008.12.19%2C%2015%2008%2019.mov?dl=0 or https://www.dropbox.com/s/y16oo5...

Couldn't it just be that the AT and the Krystal have different compliances?

Re: Questions of a newby to Lejonklou..

Is the preamp-section of the MDSM really all-digital? As far as I know, you can still hear your LP12 through it without digitizing the signal. With the Selekt KAT, ADSM and KDSM it's all digital though.

Hmm, Charlie (Watts) went to the gym, before the second clip. Not sure that's entirely good, but it gets me moving more.

Re: Stacking Tundras

I actually have no doubt they will sound great with Tundra Stereo:s Marco. The real question is if they will sound even better with three pairs of Tundra Mono:s? A fourth pair is unfortunately out of the question spacewise, considering the shelf that holds my equipment... I don't think anybody here...

Re: M140 to Akudorik upgrade advise

Since you already have Katalyst in the Exaktbox, I would also be very tempted to get the Akudoriks at that good price. I think they might be even more scarce in the future.
Well, actually you don't need a KDSM. Since you have Exakt, a Klimax System Hub will do, that saves you a nice GBP 6.600,-

Re: M140 to Akudorik upgrade advise

The Akudoriks will no doubt be a lot better, that much is clear. BUT, if the Exaktbox doesn't yet have Katalyst, that would be my first upgrade. At the moment you have too many channels in your power amps, even changing them for 2 x 4100 would be a nice upgrade. 2 x 4200 even more so.

Never heard Neat but am always keen to hear something new. My concern will be the same as ProAc or any other brand, how well can they make sense of the music? Maybe Briks would be less of a gamble. I've got a 160 that should drive them.
Or maybe Saras?

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

The magic of music! Trying to give Kate Bush a hug while listening to her song. With the Red I meet a cold “wall” not getting through to her. With the Kan I can put my arms around her and smell her hair. :-) I agree, with the Kans the song moves me, with the Reds it's just a pretty lullaby.

Re: Cartridge rebuild

You could always send an e-mail to Roberto Torlai in Italy and ask for the options available. I got my Akiva rebuilt there for € 500,- + tax. He gets the cantilever with inserted diamond from Ogura, which I believe is where Lyra gets them as well for the Linn cartridges they make. www.torlai.it Here...

• If using a phone, point the camera towards the loudspeakers and keep the area around the phone's microphone free (keep away from limiting surfaces such as a table or a wall). Don't point the microphone towards the speakers, it sounds worse. That's what I did wrong, maybe that's why it was so diff...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

In the comparison with 3 clips, the order was this:

1. Blue Jeans untreated
2. Audioquest Cinnamon
3 Blue Jeans after slightly massing the cable, it is quite stiff when new.

My favourite is definitely clip 3

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

In room the differences aren’t that small, but after listening to the clips I can understand the difficulty. I have made three new clips, hopefully it will be easier this time. Two are the same cable, but in one I have done a little tweak. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3xmlg8wgzb8xa99/Video%2031.10.19%2...

I preferred the second one too. All the extra information coming through, and the general lack of grunge made me wary, but it gets my vote on that track. I look forward to finding out which was which. Clip no. 1 was Cinnamon and Clip 2 BJC. Sorry about the noises on clip 2, my cat decided she was h...

Here's a comparison of two ethernet cables: Audioquest Cinnamon vs. Blue Jeans Cable 6a. Which do you prefer? Mind you, the BJC are brand new. 3 cables were exchanged: router - Cisco/NAS - Cisco/Cisco - ADSM https://www.dropbox.com/s/zr4130z0bhy2wb6/Video%2029.10.19%2C%2020%2034%2034.mov?dl=0 https:...
