Re: Random thoughts on hifi

https://youtu.be/Q2_rHQvKFq4 Produced by The O’Keefe Music Foundation Is it your foundation, Thomas? Matt No relation. I just accidentally ran into this video and didn't realize until the end where it came from. They are in Ohio which is just SouthEast of Michigan so they are pretty close to me. I ...

Re: Random thoughts on hifi

This discussion is going around in circles. There are certainly pieces of music that have taken me several listenings to understand, King Crimson's Lizard album being a prime example in my life, as I didn't like it at all until I had listened to it about five times. However, I also think it is hard ...

Re: Random thoughts on hifi

Sounding good, beck! Music is communication. Once the level of perfromance of the gear allows it to communicate at a high enough level whole vistas of musical genres you didn't understand open up. Isn't it lovely?

It's alright beck, you're not the only one late to the party. But clip 1 is definitely the more musical, making me listen to the whole clip. Clip 2 just seemed flat in comparison, uninvolving.

Re: Källa power path

Looks expensive 😬 In the main thread Fredrik stated that it would come in a Boazu size case (actually a lot like a Tundra case with no LEDs) and would sell for about the price of two Boazu 1.3. The pricing has not yet been finalized as Fredrik always prices based on the actual cost of manufacture a...

Re: Four years in the making

This is just such insanely good news! Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere but have you managed to eliminate differences between streaming services or do you have any preferred service to use with Källa? It is indeed very good news and I can't wait to get my hands on one (several)! I believe ...

I was moderating Thomas, who was moderating beck for moderating the moderator! 😂🤣😂 This is all moderately amusing. I hope this won't be considered immoderate, but I was just reacting to something that sounded more like a command than a suggestion. I greatly respect beck and his contributions as I d...

Re: Hermanns System

I really don't like the Vermouth cable on the first track. The music sounds weird to me. The second track is not my thing so I skipped that one. Enjoyed track 3. I thought I was listening to 'Another Green World' to begin with. Didn't mind the Vermouth so much on this one but still prefer the Linn....

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Thanks, Defender. Now I know what you are talking about. None of my spiked equipment came with any disks like that but I have seen all variation of that type of thing come with some of the speakers we sell and have sold. I remember when Vienna Acoustics speakers just came with some small Viennese co...

Re: Lejonklou Tundra 2.2 Compatibility Question

Very interesting findings. It has definitely been my experience that power conditioners and surge suppressors rob equipment of musical quality, power and control. It is very audible through Lejonklou gear. You might also want to try the Tundra with it's original power cable which is quite good (alth...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

well, to be honest what I heard in the SM clip (slight harschness) and what also beck commented on is certainly not what I hear in my system - so I would have bet a lot of money that its not the SM‘s I am hearing. I somehow think Vlado has a point ... but Matthias too. Maybe one clip doesnt say it ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

It wasn't until afterwards that I realized that the comparison conditions favored the Giella ∏ in a few ways. First off the Giella is on a Mimer shelf and the SMs are on Tors. Second, I made the SM clip first and unplugged the connectors and plugged them into the Giella. This means that the RCAs fr...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Hi All, A little more info on this. This clip was not originally intended for the forum and was just sent to Fredrik a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was interesting how the Giella ∏ caught your attention (although the 2dB level advantage it had didn't hurt that either) although we both felt the ...

OK, time for the big reveal. Clip P is the Giella ∏ and Clip F is Sagatun...Monos! It is interesting, but not completely surprising, how the replies came out. There is no question that the Giella ∏ is a very beguiling piece of equipment (possibly helped by being about 2dB louder - it is hard to prec...

Re: Understanding what a good rack needs to deliver

Hi Defender, I haven't had a chance to listen to the clips yet (pesky customers keep wanting to have my attention). But I was wondering what "normal" is? is that with the spikes into the wood floor or is there something else under the points?

I prefer the first clip, in the second one the voice sounds too digital!

Seriously though, you do generally get an enjoyable musical presentation of your rather unconventional system setup. Have fun!

Re: Linn LP12 Upgrade Questions

Can I play devils' advocate and suggest if you're looking to those levels of upgrades to your LP12 you could put say £7,500 to be a pre-owned Klimax DS/3............... :) True. He could also buy a pre-owned car, but that's not what he wants. ;) And neither one will improve his LP12 perfromance. :-)

Hermann, it might sound a little bit strange but just for fun I would listen to a Giella Pi as well. Giella Pi is more musical than Giella and Giella is more musical than Sagatun Stereo. So in this context it might be fun to evaluate the musicality of Giella Pi (if only one input is ok for you). Ma...
