;) cool second clip for me too
I think you cd player is doing a really good job while being a support for the LP12
... and even without the Ennemoser varnish and circuit boards on strings
Best CD player in a supporting role?!

I'm pretty much with beck. I'm not too thrilled with either of them but I did find the first clip somewhat preferable.

Re: Linto vs built in MM/MC Board

You start the second Radikal with both cables plugged in, then unplug the motor cable and move it to the Radikal you are using for the motor. The Radikal you are using for the Urika will remain powered up indefinitely (or until a blackout).

Re: Entity MC

Correct. That description is used to indicate the Akito cable, which is the same construction as the original T.Kable. It uses the newer Linn DIN tonearm plug, used on latter T.Kables with both types of wire. The "old" is to differentiate it from the newer T.Kable using separate Mogami wires and a g...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

If you can't get the rhythm right on this track, you might as well not bother. Clip 1 gets the rhythm from the very first notes. Clip 2? Unh, uh! 'nuff said.

I'm glad you all enjoyed the photos and stories. We did indeed have an ice storm the night and early morning of the day I was driving down to Columbus, Ohio which stretched the trip to almost 5 hours including a brief fast-food breakfast stop. Luckily the surgery went well and fitting the old T.Kabl...

Re: Linn LP12 Belts

I, and other LP12 technicians I know, don't test the belt by looking at it but by feeling the belt. You squeeze the belt between thumb and finger and pull the belt through seeing which side feels rougher. On some belts the two sides are fairly close and it can be hard to tell. One UK dealer I talk t...

Re: Musical NAS Drives

Linn is not the only one thinking this way. Stereophile, which in the early days was a booster of MQA, has reversed its position with time and more experience with the format. This editorial echoes some of what is in Linn's article and points out some other possible problems. https://www.stereophile...

Any experience with the current 'e' Grados, in comparison to the previous 'i' variants? (I'm looking at you, ThomasOK! ;-) ) Also, are the G cushions, as used in the Statement and Professional ranges, any more comfortable than the L cushions? I tried SR60s a long time ago, and found them rather unc...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I'm with all three others on this set. Being very familiar with the analog version of this song I wasn't particularly happy with any of them. But setting that aside 3 was clearly bad as Garfunkel's backing vocals were no longer harmony vocals! I suppose if you like disharmony vocals... Clips 1 and 2...

Re: Linto vs built in MM/MC Board

In my experience the Linto is more musical than the internal MC/MM board that comes standard with the Akurate units and is optional with the Majik units. Lintos are generally very solid devices but they are getting up there in age and the SMPS might need some attention to the caps before long. Urika...

A very interesting journey indeed, you have been through some unusual and different equipment. Anybody who has been into Hi-Fi gear for some time has made some missteps, I know I certainly have. But once I found out how important the hierarchy was, and had a solid method of evaluation (the tune meth...

Re: Oscar's system and first world problems

Interesting and cool journey. But I'm afraid you have set yourself a difficult task. A properly setup Rega RP8/Gaio2 is a formidable table (not as formidable as a Majik LP12 or even a Valhalla LP12 with Basik + and AT95, but still a quite good table). Roughly equalling is digitally will take a fair ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I'm with the consensus here, clip 2 is easily the most musical. Clip 1 is easily the worst. You definitely want to listen to all the ports as they do all sound different! Also check your Netgear power supplies. I also have a GS108v2 and a GS108Tv2 and the power supplies that came with them, while ou...

Re: Musical NAS Drives

The reason Tidal Masters doesn't work with Linn streamers is that it uses MQA which Linn doesn't like (nor do I). MQA stands for Master Quality Authenticated and is a lossy compressed version of high-res music files. It is supposed to give you the same quality as true 24/96 files but it doesn't. I h...

Sounds pretty good. The mention of the power cable reminds me of how important little things like this can be. At the RMAF 2017 show I brought the JBL subwoofer along with the JBL 3677s. Fredrik and I had a little extra time during the setup and I wanted to get the Marchand Electronic crossover righ...
