Re: Streaming service
I am quite fond of Joshua Judges Ruth as well and have sometimes used the blessing before food on the album: "To the Lord Praises be It's time for dinner So let's go eat" I have been hoping to find a copy on vinyl that wasn't extravagantly priced but nobody has bothered to re-release it on vinyl so ...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.
Yep, mark it X for me. The photo of the inside of the 6 outlet Ikea unit is exactly the type of thing I was talking about. My guess is that the connections in the 3 outlet Koppla is similar but with the connections being at the end of the strips. Probably also connected with crimps. The outlets that...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.
Not sure I understand the logic (not that logic necessarily applies here) that is if I understand the sequence correctly... Star ground; daisy live & neutral - not so good (NANA) Star ground; star live & neutral - "substantially better" (Revelation) Cheap outlets (solid brass 'daisy'?) - can be mus...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.
Hi markiteight! (I finally know what that means having watched The Big Lebowski for the first time a couple weeks ago.) A couple answers. My main system needs seven connections: Radikal, two SINGularity, two SM and two TM. (The Quads are on 115 Volts and the power feed to them makes absolutely no di...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.
OK, so now we need an 8 outlet Koppla. I have been using a CablePro Revelation II for years having found it better than a few other units I tried, including a Wiremold unit. For some reason the later Revelation units didn't have a number. They were essentially the same as the Revelation II but with ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Yes, Oscar, that makes perfect sense to me. I obviously don't have that level of discipline, especially within the last couple of years, but I could use to thin things out a bit. The bedroom system came about by the confluence of several chance happenings. The TV was given to me by my friend Simon w...

A is definitely better. I don't know about B being more "impressive", I suppose it depends on what impresses you. But B is definitely more "Hi-Fi". (Although that could be construed as another positive term used as a negative here.)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Oh dear... a normal 366 day leap year just wasn’t enough for 2020. Just curious ThomasOK - do you actually not have any form of second system in your home? I just assumed you’d have a bunch of stuff lying around. Or is it that your main system is so good you don’t feel it’s worth listening to somet...

Yes, I fully understand and it has been rather fun to follow along on a journey that I probably will never take. Kind of like watching a National Geographic show on a trip to the Arctic. :-) As you know I am on my own journey to see how much I can get out of these black plastic disks. It has been a ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Instead of buy all your favorite albums on CD (and have it double), buy AT - VM95C or E (Your LP12 will be as it have to be in proper condition), which is price of 2-3 CD and use rest of money for new music on CD or LP ... Just as idea ... I like to have my favorites on both vinyl and cd. Playing m...

It might be a worn Klyde but I'd still take it any day. You might try and see what it would cost to have Goldring rebuild it for you.

Re: Random thoughts on hifi
I really enjoyed your story about tapes ThomasOK. I have never thought about the differences in tunefulness in relation to them. I mostly used chrome type tapes in my youth. I still have them stored away but none of them are unused. Once I bought a metal tape and sure enough it did not impress me m...

Re: Random thoughts on hifi
Since we are in the random thoughts area I have a real random line of thought. I have recently found that being a music lover, as opposed to an audiophile, has actually had negative impact on potential income. Why you might ask? Well, back in the 80s I bought a Sony Walkman WM-D6C as it was more tun...

I have just put together 2 turntable systems for my eldest kids, who are at university. Mostly late 1980s early 1990s kit: Dual CS 505 turntable, Arcam Alpha 6 amplifier and Linn Index or TDL speakers In my office I'm currently surround by this entry level vintage kit (I still find it hard to call ...

Re: Linn Klimax Kontrol/2 - Question regarding the balanced input
Good evening Thomas, thank you very much for your reply. Linn promoted a balanced volume control in the KK with the dual mono board, which reduces the noise even further. So I thought it is a balanced pre amp. Is it possible that the first version used opamps for signal flip? Greetings Thorben What...

Re: Linn Klimax Kontrol/2 - Question regarding the balanced input
Hi everyone, I bought a KK/2 and read some older tests from audiophile papers. I understand that the KK/2 works fully balanced and that all single ended inputs are converted to a balanced signal in the inside. The author of one test stated that the balanced signal of the KK/2 is converted to single...

That's absolutely fabulous news, congrats! And to think with the just announced 1.3 upgrade Fredrik has made Boazu even better - perhaps it may compete for the 2021 award as well? Well done Thomas & Fredrik! Thanks everyone. As with Fredrik I am quite pleased. It is always good when work of the qua...

Re: Linn Lingo 4 ground problem and fix
I have a question with respect to the cross brace/bar. I have recently took the Lingo 2 out and installed the Akurate Radikal. I had a cross bar in my LP12 which was holding the motor control board and I left it where it was for better stability of the plinth. Are you supposed to take it off when y...
