It's very interesting how the Sondek LP12 power supply options have changed since 1973 8) .

There was an advertisement provided by a Linn dealer, suggesting the new LP12 Majik power supply is better sounding than the older Valhalla power supply. Is there any truth to this statement, or is it just a subjective opinion?

Based on my experiences with Linn interconnects, and primarily on Linn components, there is validity to their statement. It becomes more challenging to determine optimum length with other cable companies.

I agree totally, no way I'd drill a hole in the Keel. Cosmetically it wouldn't look good, and after spending that much money - the Keel wouldn't deserve an additional hole drilled into it... 8) !

There is no doubt in my mind that Linns' next moving coil cartridge will sound better. However, I haven't identified any flaws with the current Akiva moving coil cartridge.

Thanks for the indepth explanation Thomas. I do know that Linn spends a great deal of time researching, testing and listening to their audio products. Ultimately, this attention to detail has a positive impact on the overall Linn sound.

Thomas, if an extra hole is drilled into the Keel (for the particular type of Ittok tonearm you mentioned), does it have an impact on the sonic performance, especially if they switch to an Ekos tonearm later?

Thomas, does Linn experiment with various Lyra products, then determine what changes they want made to a particular Lyra cartridge? And does Linn experiment with these cartridges only on their Sondek turntable, using an Ekos SE tonearm?

I think the Keel can ordered for various Linn tonearms such as; the Ittok, Ekos and Ekos SE, which will be the same type of Keel. Or the Keel can be ordered for the Naim tonearm, which is a different version.

Don't know, never tried :?: . But as long as no moisture hits the stylus it should be okay.

Source first is how I've built my audio system, and have no problems with this approach. However, there are those that insist on building a system in reverse.

As for cleaning albums, I use either a VPI record cleaning machine or I clean by hand with filtered water and a lint free cloth.
