Re: Help organizing ear buds from best to worst
Hi! Thank you I'll update the list. I wasn't sure how popular it would be to have a post full off links, but I can sure add the rest but it's from the same youtube channel. Primarily I'm interested in how musical they are, secondly in price. But AirPods Pro are too expensive anyhow, but still import...

Help organizing ear buds from best to worst
Hi Forum! A while back(late I know) I started the journey of deciding on what ear buds to buy and what bargains that might exist out there. Yesterday I found a youtube channel that makes a recording of all the in hear head phones they are testing, it's called "Hi Listen". Since I'm thinking about or...

doze84: You need to learn about how jitter affects D/A conversions. It has nothing to do with loss of data. If you want a discussion, you need to catch up on this, otherwise we can’t communicate. I have probably read 100 pages about jitter before, but it has always been people dealt with errors tra...

Re: Thoughts around a Lejonklou Streamer
The only definition of jitter I have heard of, is errors that makes it into the data. These errors comes from clocks speaking at different pace(which always is the case), or noise that manages to cause the pulse signal to vary so much that a 0 becomes a 1 somewhere. But since TCP/IP resends every p...

Re: Thoughts around a Lejonklou Streamer
That is interesting. Then this chip needs to be chosen wisely, even if it were to be an optical link. Normally when speaking of jitter, it is jitter that makes it into the data because of clocks speaking at different speeds. That shows up in the data. This would be more electrical noise than jitter...

Re: Thoughts around a Lejonklou Streamer
Doze84, There is a device in the receiver called a PHY chip. It's job is to translate the analog waveform on the Ethernet copper pairs into digital data. In order to do that, it needs to constantly adjust it's own clocks to match the clock that generated the analog waveform in the first place. Jitt...

doze84: There's one thing you need to grasp: Bit perfect is not an issue. Not a problem whatsoever. That's basic. The real challenges are on another level. Start by reading about jitter. And please understand that digital signals are being transmitted by analogue waveforms. You are arguing against ...

Re: Thoughts around a Lejonklou Streamer
It's easy to jump to that conclusion, but there are challenges with all digital systems. The problems associated with USB are very similar. Before we start looking outside of science, and logic, I'm sure there are more stones to be turned inside. That Linnofils lightbuls affects his sound, I'm sure...

Re: Thoughts around a Lejonklou Streamer
Ok, I kind of forgot how a NAS worked, I was mostly thinking out of a song cast perspective, as if the NAS was a pc .. Does Linn us upnp to stream files over to the DS, or do they just use uPNP to locate the files? It says "control" on the web page. If it is like you say, this big impact in picking ...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer
Regarding your other suggestions, do they all consist of a digital source feeding a DAC? If so, what's important to know is that in those scenarios, the digital source is where ALL the magic lies. Not in the DAC. In fact, if you have two different computers as digital sources and decide to find the...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer
We've gone much deeper into this than you think, doze84. In my opinion, Data integrity is never a problem. Optical transmission adds more problems than it solves. Asynchronous USB is not particularity good. It's not that difficult to get a nice sound. It's when trying to arrive at something really ...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer
Hi doze84! But they do provide a key to performance because they are the point where static data is converted to a stream, by adding a clock. Bit perfect is no problem, correct data isn't (except you can still hunt for the best version of the file as in different mixes or rips of CDs), but when it ...

No worries, we've lerner from Apple, that it's better to get things right than fast:) And it's not easy to be in a position where all established standards are flawed. I have to disagree here on the importance of the feeder. I know this is probably your experience and probably the case with most dac...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer
I deleted my last message about optical USB, because the cable I had found turned out to not be 100% optical after all. But now it seems I've found an USB 3.0 cable that actually is 100% fiber and no copper conductor in it. https://www.unibrain.com/products/usb-3-0-active-optical-cables/#detailsTab ...

Hi Fredrik, I have an idea that I would like to have your feedback on! :) 1) How about a Thunderbolt fibre optic cable and then connect the unit just like an external thunderbolt soundcard/dac to a computer. I'm not sure about async drivers for thunderbolt devices but if the driver is written correc...

Re: Ds networkconnection via Power outlet/Wifi AP
Ok, I'll have a closer look at my possibilities when I have moved in. Maybe I'll give accesspiont over wifi a try, since I'm gonna use wifi anyway when using songcast and airplay. But if i get dropouts or degraded music quality I'll go over to cable.

Ds networkconnection via Power outlet/Wifi AP
Hi, I'm moving to a place where I can't connect my DS directly to the router. Or I can but that will require a lot of work with long cables and lists(20m) Has anybody had any experience with wifi extending accesspoints, connected to the router via antenna or wall outlet connecion. Will this make it ...

Dont buy to many, let others enjoy them to! :-) Did it sound(musically) better than taking the analog signal out from the 30pin connector on your iphone 4/4s? I haven't compared them. I will see if I can do that. But my memory sa...

Re: Lejonklou DS player
Would it be possible to put a little I2s connector on the back, for experimenting with streaming, like in this example. I see that more and more dac's have i2s input, I'm aware that this is no guarantee for good sound, but maybe it makes it possible achive. I'm not sure of the outcome of gluing a li...
