Re: Debian 9 Stretch

Sopper: Thanks for your guidelines, highly appreciated.
Is there a particular reason for installing mpd 0.21.3 instead of installing a slightly older version with just

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mpd
?

No, currently there’s no media server running on my Nas, Volumio finds the music via the shared folders.

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

What do you mean by Volumio taking care of the streaming, do you mean as a server?I know that volumio can act as a server but that would mean installing it on a Nas As far as I understand, I don't have to have Minimserver running on my Nas for Volumio to work. That's why I had to specify IP address...

Re: General discussion about HAKAI (Split from original thread)

I too got my Hakai up and running last night. All in all it went very well, installation of Volumio was a breeze following Azazellos instructions. A couple of reflections so far: 1. It’s really good! I have only been able to play when the rest of the house is sleeping (ie low volume), but it’s easy ...

Re: HAKAI

If you stay as close as possible to the specification of the original Gigabyte GA-N3050N-D3H, there's a good chance you'll get good results. That is: Gigabyte, Ultra Durable series, integrated Celeron processor, passive cooling, mini-ITX format and ATX powered. Looking at this page: https://www.gig...

Re: HAKAI

All this sounds very interesting.
Just a couple of questions:

1. The two mentioned motherboards do indeed seem very difficult to get hold of. Has anyone tried any other motherboard?

2. What OS have you been using?

Re: JBL 3677

Interesting project! Too bad that the size and looks of these speakers makes them so intimidating that I can't see that many people would want to have them in their living room, except for the real hard core enthusiasts. Fredrik: Why not try to take the speaker hardware and the modifications and ins...

In what way did you strip the OS down? Just curious since I'll probably use W7 Ultimate as well.

Stream without nas

I read this on the Linn forum: "Actually, the best way to stream music (in terms of SQ) is not to use any NAS. Any NAS will have a negative effect on the SQ. I suspect the problem is not with the data transferred, but rather on the noise that the NAS inject into the mains line and network. If one is...

Interesting. When you say Treble, you mean the input Tweeter and not Supertweeter, right? Thats how they're labelled on Majik 140.

Arva Trading should be able to help you: http://www.arva.se/atc_hifi_start.htm
However, I think they only carry the Entry series, not the larger models.

Wouldn't mind comparing Akurate 212 with ATC SCM40... Indeed! Last week I compared my Katans to the SCM40. We compared on ATC pre- and poweramps, don't even remember what CD-player we used (something generic japanese I think)... The Katans weren't set up properly, but I don't believe the ATC's were...

The SCM40 is a closed box. I heard the SCM40 a couple of weeks ago, at the Swedish distributor, it sounded really good with ATC electronics. Next week I'm bringing my Katans over there to make a comparison with SCM40 on the ATC electronics. I'm not much of a "tune dem-er", but I'll be sure to post m...

Thanks for a great and detailed answer :)

The other products are indeed Linn, except for my tv-digitalbox. There's no sound at all when I connect/disconnect, so I'll continue to do so with the power on. At my own risk, of course.

Thanks again!

I'm the happy owner of a second-hand Kikkin since a few days now, and I'm quite impressed with the performance of the little black box! However, since I use it with more than one signal source I've got a question: Should I switch the power of my units off before switching input cables in the back of...
