Charlie,
I just got it on cd and ripped. One listen - undecided - will see if it grows on me. I was working on my network at the time but it never did reach out and grab my attention.

It must be Linn's fault that we have come to expect near perfect performance at a given price. Now that I can finally afford what was the best of the best, the bar has been raised. How dare they!! To add salt to the wound just when my ADS can give my LP12 a run for it's money, Linn comes out ...

Not to doubt the ears, but how has it been determined that vinyl is magnetized? Has anyone used a field indicator of gauss meter on an LP? Are we sure it's not static electric? My Loricraft PRC3 removes static while cleaning. Nothing I've heard improves an LP like it. How does it do for MM cartridge...

When I was in a larger home I had Tukans in the basement. The dealer recommended mounting them 18" off the floor on brakits. I was surprised by this but the results were really good. It is hard to position the spacing with brakits. Mine were 6Ft between but I would expect this to be somewhat differe...

Hi Charlie, I find that just leaving the computer alone has the biggest affect on the perception of improved music. Lights out is probably the next biggest for me. Using less brain power and less of our senses certainly will allow our hearing to take over. I really doubt it has anything to do with t...

The new KK, skeets and silvers are all in place now. Done all at once - I did not take time to listen to the change of each component. It is still probably burning in - but has seemed to turn a corner in this regard. I don't think I have a different experience/opinion than others regarding the Tune....

Keep listening to music - decide what you want in the end - take advantage of buying opportunities as they are presented. You will end up where you want to go eventually at the lowest price. The kikkin sounds like a no brainer unless you go for KK - and it's priced so good it would make sense to hav...

Charlie, The KK replaced a Karin with the brilliant power supply that has just been totally refurbished this month, so I guess it's as good as a Karin gets. I guess it's like "Old Coke" was just "Coke" until "New Coke" was introduced. The KK/1 designation is from LInn. I was thinking like you prior ...

Charlie and all. I just got my new KK/1 as it is called out on the box. This is the new version. I guess a KK is the original and KK/1 the new. I know that I still need burn in time. I'm finding that it sounds so much better and speaker positioning doesn't have as big an impact as with the karin. I ...

Room Treatments - thoughts and experience.
I am looking into adding room treatments in my condo. Specifically I'd like to use acoustic panels that double as art (pictures). I need the decorative value and figure it just makes sense to combine that with acoustic treatment. I've seen several websites which use various foams and recycled cotton...

Update. I a have ordered a Klimax Kontrol, 1 pair silver interconnects, and skeets for speakers (3 each) and 6 for the rack. This leaves me looking for phono-pre (MC). Now to the questions, how would you implement these components into the system? I'm thinking - switch pre with included silvers betw...

I have been enjoying one of the great features of my Akurate DS lately. I've created smart playlist in mediamonkey that are genre based. I've set Twonky to shuffle my playlist. I end up listening to randomly organized songs from my collection that I don't think I would normally choose. I have found ...

Charlie, Just to give you an idea of how much the DS has changed my life I had only 1 instance of both CD and LP of the same from 1993 to this year. Previously used Karik/Numerik. This wasn't even close to the LP12. Now I'm buying all kinds of CDs and downloads of things already in my LP collection....

Time to check into the DS. One thing for sure is that no damage comes to your music collection from anyone using the Linn GUI. Nothing can be accidently moved or deleted. The networking is not as bad as you might think from reading the Linn forum. This would need to be handled before turning things ...

I have Rebecca Pidgeon's "Spanish Harlem". One copy is from Chesky Records "Women of Song" 16 bit. I've recently downloaded "The Raven" 24/96 from HDTracks which has the same song. The 24/96 is definitely bettter sounding. The Chesky recording is Very Good and has been a long time favorite of mine. ...

Ahh I see you are saying that the base you are planning will be filled with steel shot AND resin mixed to form the base. I haven't seen Espeks. On my keltiks and kabers the bases (which have always been on them) are attached to 4 feet. I don't see how they affect the resonance of the cabinet. The se...

Lead shot will be much better at minimizing vibration than steel. Steel wiil transmit very well. If you have seen the 5 steel ball pendulums in series this will give you a good idea of how well steel will transmit vibration. Lead is used extensively in industrial applications to reduce or eliminate ...

Each step of the audio chain is part of taking mechanical energy, converting it to electrical energy and then back to mechanical energy. Sound is mechanical energy (vibrations) and includes the harmonics of the space where the original performance takes place. The first step AFAIK is the microphones...

I think it most obvious example of source first is to buy a second hand LP then play a cut - then clean on my Loricraft PRC3. The first dirty source is almost listenable. The clean (sounding) LP is the best source available. Once info is lost or altered there is no going back. I believe the source i...

So far I've only downloaded music that is in a better than Red Book format. The Higher resolution files sound better. 24/192 being the clear winner. Steve Gibbons Linn CD ripped through RipStation is very good, but then I like all the rips I've done except those when I tried to multitask while rippi...
