Re: Preamps with DSs
In my understanding, all signals in a DSM is converted to 35 bit information. Incoming material can be 16 or 24 bit. The conversion to 35 bit 384 kHz always involves calculations. Later on, the 35 bit signal is converted to 24 bit, 192 kHz to match the DAC. This step always involves calculations and...

Does anyone know what is the default 0 dB amplification? The Chakra manual states position "3" is default, I think. Is this correct? Will the situation be the same when chakra aktiv cards are used in the adapter for older mono typ aktiv slots? I asked Linn Helpline of this, but got a confusing answe...

Here is an article showing one way of modifying the IKEA Lack table. I have a similar table from IKEA, "Corras", and have plans to try that modification. When done, I will get back with pictures and a report.

AKG K24P arrived today. Plugged them in and in a direct comparison with my well run-in Koss Porta Pro's (that I never use) the AKG's sound much more in tune. The Porta Pro's feel quite soggy and almost like they add a bit of wow&flutter to the music. Very promising. Are there any furter comments or...

Interesting stuff. Have you compared this with other tools? The EAC doesn't convert CD/WAV to MP3, or? What is the best MP3 encoder? I have heard some recommend the LAME encoder, but how to download and use it? I have not compared it to other cd-rippers judgeing by ear, but I will try to and get ba...

For CD extraction, I recommend the free software Exact Audio Copy:
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
It reads the CD sectors several times until 100% accurate result is aquired, and if not possible, it notifies.

I have not done a direct comparision of the X5 and the T2. My brother lives in Stockholm, but when I get an opportunity to compare the two I will get back and comment. It shouldn't take time to appriciate the Etymotic 4P earphone. They gives mig much musical pleasure traveling to and from work. Howe...

I have very good expericences from the iAudio players from Cowon. I have a iAudio X5, and my brother has a T2. They both sound enjoyable on mp3 music, and even better when you load it with music in a lossless format. They both have the feature to play music files in the FLAC format. http://www.cowon...

That was a nice musical evening! Actually, we arranged another musical evening yesterday (at our friend with two Lintos), very nice. However, I have never done a comparision 1 vs 2 Linto. Last year I upgraded from Lingo v1 to the newer Lingo. The new Lingo is quite superior in performance. I would r...

Hello! I attended to the Linn reference system demo in Luleå, Sweden. The LP12 SE with an Akiva was compared with a current spec top LP12 with an Arkiv B. I do not know the difference between the two cartridges, but the difference in performance between the two turntables was HUGE. The present top L...
