Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

Hmm! There's something about A which is very good indeed, B loses a bit of the tension and crispness in comparison. D feels better than either, but I still almost, nearly but not quite prefer A.

Lovely music, though - Salonen on BIS?

Re: Karousel

Yes, that is correct. I just spoke with the dealer and there was an email late yesterday saying that shipments have had to be halted. So my armless deck will remain armless for another few weeks at least, no vinyl this month :(

Ah Thomas, That’s good info on the torque for Keel will run with my Sturtevant driver. Do you know if it’s a dealer only fit? I’m supposing it is. Regards My other new purchase is a Sturtevant driver. Thanks to you both - I look forward to becoming self-sufficient as an LP12 owner, in preparation f...

Re: Karousel

Only people providing essential services are allowed to go to work. Apparently quality music in the home isn't considered essential! I'm sure most on here will consider it essential if they are stuck at home. Oh yes! I was lucky enough to sell my Ekos SE and Urika, and collect cash for both just be...

Re: What to match with a Majik DSM3

Will you be connecting any sources other than the streaming functions in the DSM? If not, I suggest that you look for an ADS Katalyst and not an ADSM. It should sound better, and cost less. Do you envisage on-going upgrades when money permits, or will this be a one-off expenditure? If it is definite...

Re: Entity MC

I'm starting to doubt the law of diminishing returns. As my system reaches peak LP12/Lejonklou - only SE to SE/1 (hopefully soon) and ARad to KRad left to go - the difference Entity makes over Urika 1 is difficult to overstate. After eight weeks, it just SINGS! The additional resolution, dynamics an...

I love 109s, but - I agree with Charlie1! I don't know the Majik-i well (I had Wakonda/LK140) but suggest you keep it and the Tukans, and focus on the source. Good luck!

Re: Entity MC

These reviews are making the Krystal/Entity vs Kore to Keel decsion even more diffiicult. Head says Keel ; Heart says Krystal/ Entity. Head may accept Krystal/Entity first as long as there is commitment to Keel in the not too distant future, but has to contend with the fact that Heart has unauthori...

Re: Questions of a newby to Lejonklou..

Your reasoning is good. Source first. You've already replaced the poweramp section of the MDSM, and either ADS or KRDS will function the same as a streamer/preamp. (Assuming you have no other sources, the only preamp function you need is the volume control.) Linn's DVC has gone through several gener...

I'll report back after a few days of being properly warmed up. Cheers! Re: Ground hum issue

Problem sorted. Immense thanks to Fredrik for his diagnostic help. I am now using a two-wire (rather than three) lead to power the AC adapter for the Nano PSU. I felt a lot of resistance to doing this, but now I'm grounded, even if the power lead isn't.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices

I prefer the second clip. But since I have done the same comparison myself, I'm hardly surprised. Expectation bias? I went back and listened again, and heard that the Netgear had more boogie, more guts, less beauty. I ended up violently agreeing with tokenbrit :) So I'm repeating the comparison in ...

Are the Hakai motherboards in separate cases? I've only the one Streacom case, so I've been swapping motherboards by using a screwdriver! The mismatch in motherboard effects is so odd - the boards are so similar in layout and content. It's not the motherboard itself, I now think. I (unintentionally...

Re: HAKAI NAS

Basic question perhaps, anyway... I believe I see a variety of SSD’s in your pictures FairPlayMotty: does that mean that it’s not so critical exactly which type is used for music storage space? My experience has been there's negligible difference in the sound quality of the SSDs holding the flac fi...
