Re: stevan's studio system

I love the look of your rig Stevan! For myself, I prefer a more visually modest system, but occasionally, my crazy audiophile other half rears its ugly head! I’d really like to hear a video clip of your system in action, if you can find the time 🤞

Can we have a synopsis please? For some strange reason, Google Translate can’t convert Norwegian to English 🤷‍♂️

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

Spannko and TMV, you will be at least partially happy. The Boazu 2 will definitely have the darker, more grey logo - Fredrik likes subtlety and is pretty obviously the king of anti-bling! Anything in that chassis will have the Källa logo look going forward just as the TM3 does. As to not having the...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Having read the comments and listening again, I can understand why most people thinking a combination of A & B’s best bits might be the best overall. I still have a preference for what I hear as B’s musicality, but what’s really interesting for me is that a solid core cable is really snapping at the...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

Going slightly off at a tangent. I really like the look of the latest featureless enclosures with the darker grey printing. Also, there’s been a trend with TV’s for a long time to remove any controls from the facia and put them on the side or top where they can’t be seen. I’d be perfectly happy if t...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

Fair enough. I still don’t understand the relevance of the question though tbh. The actual number given to the maximum volume setting is pretty irrelevant. It could be 42, 78, 100 or any number in between. Also, any number can be associated with any voltage level. So I’d say that A) The volume contr...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

Thinking about it a bit more, my preference would be three tiered. 1) The volume control should be engineered for maximum musicality, regardless of any other considerations. 2) Within the limitations of 1, the maximum volume should be set so as to prevent clipping with Källa. 3) If someone is using ...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

I suppose we really need to understand what the advantages and/or disadvantages are with limiting at 78 or 100. I must admit, I’m not sure how relevant the question is. Couldn’t the volume control be set up to max out at 100 whilst limiting the voltage output to ensure the amplifier stays within its...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

Fredrik, when you say “remove the child safety feature”, do you mean remove the 78 limit and allow the amp to go to 100, or remove the ability to choose to go to 100 and permanently lock the volume at 78? Personally, I like the idea of limiting the output of the amplifier so that it always works wit...

Re: Which App ? (Streaming + Local)

Thank you Fredrik. The obvious question then is what’s best? 4/5G directly to Källa or wired/cable internet through Amplifi HD and GS108T? I’ve heard David Neal’s 4/5G connection and it was excellent, even though it went through a GS108T. I’m currently running a 4/5G router directly into Källa and I...

Re: Which App ? (Streaming + Local)

Am I right in thinking that some 4/5G routers sound better when connected directly to Källa and the Amplifi HD benefits from the addition of a 108T between the HD and Källa?

springwood64 wrote: 2024-02-18 08:09 For clarification, I've never removed the upper volume limit when listening to Boazu, so my comment relates to listening up to the 'child safety' limit.
Me too. FWIW I think the child safety feature is a great idea and have often wondered why every amplifier isn’t limited in this way.

Re: Boazu vs Tundra 2.2 (with various preamps)

With Källa or Axis as source I can take Boazu as loud as it will go and there's no loss of magic. If anything, it just gets better as it gets louder. Same here. With a little liquid lubrication, I can listen to Boazu at literally 100% volume. It’s pretty loud, but there’s absolutely no signs of dis...

Re: ThomasOK's System

Slight threadjack here, but are any of your silvers sleeves getting "goopy" and sticky as they age? I just happened to be inspecting my two pairs of silvers yesterday. It was quite difficult to unscrew one of the barrels and when I looked closer, the cable was a slightly different colour and had a ...

Re: ThomasOK's System

Thanks Thomas. I can imagine soldering Silver plugs being quite difficult. The Black plugs are pretty straightforward, however the Silvers are quite a bit more massive, requiring considerably more energy to bring the plug up to the right temperature, yet the cables are relatively lightweight which p...

Am I right in thinking you listen to the Silvers individually Thomas? If so, have you found differences between cables from an original pair, resulting in new matched pairs consisting of two red or two black cables?
